Does DIM automatically install 3rd party content?

So I just downloaded a free item from a third party website known as Renderosity and in the instructions the user states:
"Install Manager (DIM) Ready: Place Zip into: Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads"
So... I did. I followed it to a T. I can see where all the Daz3D zip files are in the path and they all have a "DAZ Shared XML" type associated with them.
So my question is: Can I get DIM to acknowledge the zip file so that I can install through DIM or are products not purchased through daz3d simply not able to load and will need to be manually installed instead?
Thanks!

If it's been set up for DIM it should be there, in the Ready to Install tab- but it does require set up by the creator. That is your usual DIM downloads folder? if you've changed the location DIM uses you will have to change the place you put the zip to match.
Yes. It is my usual folder. All my downloads thus far from daz3d have been placed in there in a zip file with a daz shared xml type file. But, I keep putting third party zip files in there and DIM does not know that they exist, even when I quit DIM and restart or refresh the program.
and you are looking in the middle tab, Ready to Install?
I made a Dim ready file that I uploaded to both Rendo & sharecg - I just checked my file & it appears when you upload to Rendo the name of the zip file is changed so the Install Manager part no longer works
The solution for me was to rename the zip back to its original name but thats not helpful to the poster or others as they would not know the name :(
In case its my file giving problems then just rename the zip as CG50000750-01_LDPaulForG8M.zip in the DL manager & it should install as expected
Yes. I am looking in the middle tab. Keep in mind that I am referencing 3rd party non-daz content that I download from a site in a zip file.
@Tottallou I don't think it is you becuase I just tried this out with a bunch of freebies just to see if it was indeed the single zip... ANY zip file that I put in the download folder and then load up DIM is not pulled up for install. So... I have just been installing them manually.
There HAS to be something I am doing wrong! I am putting .zip files in this directory:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads
Which is were all the Daz3d products that I have bought are located in .zip files and... all of the Daz3d products that I have bought from Daz3d installed wonderfully. But these 3rd party zip files are falling flat on me... :(
Are the zip files you are adding to the downloads folder actually marked as install (DIM) ready ? If they are they will have a couple of letters & 8+ numbers like the one I quote (CG50000750-01)
I must admit I don't usually look when I download things as I install non Daz & freebies manually into a seperate library but any DIM ready items I added to : C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads that are in the format above seem to show up for me :)
No. None of my freebie files from other sites are coded in such a way. How am I supposed to know that was the case? LOL
Generally everything you get from any site that is not daz3d.com will need manual installation
There is this free software that installs zips for you
http://www.sharecg.com/v/71453/browse/10/Software-and-Tools/Daz-Content-installer-from-Zips
You do need to check everything is installed though (especially FREE items) as if the folders are not in the correct format it will fail to install it but assuming they are OK its quicker than a manual install.
Wow that is a great tool. Thanks!
You can also use Content Package Assist to make DIM installable packages: https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist
Yes, DAZ Install Manager can install third party content also.
precondition
eg. zip file should have folders Contents, Manifest.dsx, Supplement.dsx
in doubt compare folder structure with already working .zip file
Procedure
for eg: Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads.
press on 'Ready to Install' tab.
this also automatically creates <package-name>.dsx same name as the .zip file at the Downloads folder.
