What's the most efficient (in terms of time to render) way to make an all object a solid color (e.g. pure black or pure green)?

Okay, here I went to the menu: Create> Primitives > Sphere ( I should have cosen more facets), selected the surfaces, applied Materials> Default Resources> Shaders> !iRay Uber Shader. I went the surfaces and chose base color "black" or o,o,o and either white or black to make a glossy or matte sphere. I applied iray render settings and added a specular light, and rendered using Mitchell filtering (1.0 setting).
