This is the message i am receiving which i hope appearewd as an attachment to the initial post.
A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. Several Daz studio features that require a valid Postgre SQL CMS connection, such as context aware content views and loading content installed using the Daz Connect service will not be available. Check your network, anti virus, and firewall settings for conflicts
Help please.
Did you install PostgreSQL, which is the database sed by the Content Management System? If you did, what security software are you using?
Have you installed the PostgreSQL CMS file for D|S
Hi Chohole,
I think i have - it shows oon my downloads. I will check now. Do you have any other ideas if i have downloaded it?
Hi Richard,
At the moment i only have widows defender- i thought i had other software but a friend who cam around to check my computer tells me that this is all i have.
Hi Chohole,
Yes i have the file installed.
I have been downloading heaps of stuff recently and it has been working well. this afternoon i attmepted to open my folders and i have been getting that message. When my friend called around to check on the problem (he is not familiar with Daz - just very good with computers) he told me that i do not have any virus protection other than windows defender (my bad) and that none of the the other items listed on the message should be preventing me from accessing the files. Like i said he desn't know anything about Daz so that was all he could offer. Like i said i have been downloading heapsof things over the past few weeks. Could i have exceded a limit somewhere? I have a laptop with Daz studio installed and it is getting the same message ( i don't know if that is relevant). As you can probably tell i am pretty inexperienced with computer systems so i mafinding this baffling and challenmging to say the least- especaially as i have invested a considerable amount of money purchasing content. Please any other help. I think i need to take a few deep breathes and relax. That's better.
I just uninstalled both programs and then reninstalled. I have restarted computer and still no luck.
Had you ever tried running Daz Studio or Install Manager as admin (right-click and Run as Admistrator)? That can cause problems.
Thanks Richard- i tried that and i am still experiencing the same problem. I have submitted a support ticket and followed the steps they recommended and i am still having the same problem. I have resubmitted the ticket and awaiting a response. Thanks heaps for your help.
Cheers.Ian
I was saying that running as admin can cause issue, so if that's what you just tried you may have added to your problems.
A couple of knowledge base articles that may help:

Thanks Richard- didn't read your post carefully. I have put in a support ticket and trying all the options but still no luck. Seems to be a pretty big problem. I wil read the articles you have kindly uiploaded. Cheers.
I am having this issue, constant error message. I did indeed run as admin for a long time though now it will not allow me to. I run in limited mode now, I am pretty sure the last install I did disabled the ability to run in admin so I don't think reinstalling would help. The articles you linked to are no longer there.
In case it is simply my firewall, what should I be "allowing" in the firewall, exactly? I have allowed DS but is there something else?
As far as I know I do not want or need whatever this is, I only run content on my computer and I buy things through the store on the net and install them mostly by hand though I do have the content whatsit installed and use it occasionally. I would be happy just to get this thing to not generate a new error every second or two (according to my render log this is mostly what it does).
If you were running in admin mode it's possible that soem folders or files now have admin rights (which is one of the reasons the applications no longer allow running in admin mode). What is the error message you are getting?
"A valid postgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. Several features require etc."
I used the IM to install the separate 64 bit version today in case that would help but I still get the error. What exactly would I need to unblock in my firewall? I already unblocked the Daz Studio .exe for both the program and the beta version I am using 4.11.
The install manager required my admin password for that, I don't know where the folders are in question, if I find them I will make sure of the priviledges.
It is the Postgres database that needs an internal port and it is that program that you need to tell the firewall to allow.
Ok, got it working, I made the mistake of installing postgre whatsit while DS was open, I guess. I redid it and it's working now.
