Frequent Daz Studio freezing

I'm finding Daz Studio (4.9 pro) is freezing ALOT over the last couple of days. It occaisionally did this in the past, and was frustrating and enraging if you lost a lot since your last save. However I now find I can barely select an item of clothing to delete or recolour without this happening. I think it must be related to a few clothing and environment sets that I recently downloaded.  I was surprised at their size -  0.5 to 1GB each, (one of these was 3GB once unpacked!). Has Daz3D lifted previous file size limitations, as sets are becoming HUGE?

I don't now if I have reached the limit of my runtime, and if subdividing it in some way would help?

Is anyone else having similar issues?

Can I allocate more RAM to DAZ in some way ?                    (n.b.  I have a 4GB GPU, and 20GB RAM)

  • If the content isn't loaded it doesn't matter how large it is on disc. DS will already be using as much RAM as it needs, up to the limit that the system can spare. The obvious suspects are anti-virus, possibly interferring with disc actions, video drivers, affecting screen redraw, and the LaMH Catalyser, which could cause issues in the original version (but the current 1.3 version, I believe, addresses these https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/188806/released-lamh2iray-catalyzer-1-3-update-available-commercial/p1 )

  • Hi Richard,

Thanks for your very helpful reply. I think It may well be the Catalyzer which I recently installed. I'll give that a try first.

    cheers!

Make sure you have the latest version of Catalyzer.

  • Yup, that's done the trick. Thank you both
