Export poses in .fbx?

How would one go about exporting separate poses in the .fbx format?

If I add a parameter setting to model it will export as a blendshape with the parameter name in .fbx. That would work perfect if there's a quick way to save and remove a lot of poses as a parameter setting.

Using DS 4.5 pro with the .fbx plugin

Thanks for the assistance!

Surely the pose is a state of the rigging? Or do you mean morphs?

My bad, it would be morphs, in particular facial expressions with eye rotation.

  • Richard, do you know of a way to export multiple poses from Daz to C4D or Maya thorugh FBX ? Or is it we can only export poses one by one ?

I have no experience with C4D, and limited experience using FBX as the applications I use do not have wonderful FBX importers.

Let me join in here. The FBX importer of Cinema 4D ignores the default orientation of the joints. So, every joint in Cinema 4D is aligned with the world axis. You can export a posed character, but the angles of the joint are different then in Daz.

If you want to export poses, you can only export the complete character and save the joint positions in Cinema 4D afterwards in a pose tag. Alternative approaches include scripting in Cinema 4D. It should be possible to read poses directly from the *.dsf files. In this case you have to replicated Daz Studio rotations in Cinema 4D though. Detailed discussions can be found here

Thanks to Richard, I do understand many more things in Daz Studio. This should work with Genesis 8 as well.
