Shaping Pane customization
Hi Y'all!
I'm coming back to daz after a number of years and I'm starting to get the hang of the new (to me) daz 4.5 Pro. One questions I have that I can't figure out, or google my way through has to do with the shaping pane/tab. I'v loaded up all my morphs and people and now my shaping tab is an unholy mess! There's just too much stuff there to make it useful now. What I would 'like' to do is remove or hide those shaping morphs that I don't use very often (like the Pippa morph for example) and just keep the ones that I use a lot on the shaping tab. I tried hiding them, but it's not persistent, and all the morphs that I had hidden were unhidden the next time I opened up Daz. I don't want to remove the morphs from my content.
Is there a way to make the 'hide' persistent? Or another way I can remove the morphs from the shaping tab without removing the content from the program?

File>Save as>Support Asset>Save Modified Assets, though be careful not to save things like the pose that you won't want to become defaults. You could also change the label, since each group of morphs is sorted alphabetically, and don't forget that you can exclude sub-groups from showing in the list of properties (check box at bottom left) and use the text box to filter what shows.
I wish there was a "Show Sub Items" checkbox in the Smart Content panel. That is pretty handy, and thanks for pointing it out, Richard. I never even noticed it down there!
You are a life saver! Thank you! I never would have stumbled across that myself lol! Now what exactly does the save asset "do" ? Is that just for customizing your shape tab? All tabs? Does it "do" other things? Can it be undone later? Don't get me wrong, that little trick did exactly what I was looking for, but I am also trying to learn how all this "new" stuff works!
Oh and you mentioned that you can alphabetize the morphs, but on my tab they aren't alphabetized. They look to be in the order I installed them. I tried changing the file name and the label but that didn't sort them alphabetically. Is there a sort function I'm oblivious too as well?
Thanks again!
All content in .duf/.dsf format is assets - figures, props and morphs. Saving modified assets saves the ones you've changed the properties of (which is why I told you to be careful not to have made any changes you didn't want to keep, though you do get a list of changed assets that you can be selective with). You can't undo saved changes, but you can of course change them back and save those changes.
The morphs are shown alphabetically within groups - but if you are showing sub items then each set of items will still be separated (and there's no visible division between groups in the list, which I find annoying).
I have a ton of Gen 4 character morphs I'll be using Genesis Generation X to convert to Genesis morphs and after playing with it this weekend it seems like all the genesis created morphs end up on the shaping tab. So when I'm all done installing my content AND converting gen 4 morphs over to genesis my shaping tab will go from an unholy mess to hell on earth in terms of organization so you're tip is going to save me from having a nervous break down! I'm assuming I can save the gen 4 to genesis morphs as a preset then "hide" them (via save asset) on the shaping tab? Then when I want a particular gen4/genesis morph I can just goto my presets?
I find it much easier to simply give them their own section on the shaping tab. In general, most of the shapes are divided up into categories. In the case of Generation X by default it places them in Actor/Generation X; it's own folder. This makes it much easier to find later on when you want to use them.
If you have a lot of GenX morphs, you can simply edit them to place them within their correct categories. Male morphs under Actor/Male/Real World, Female under Actor/Female/Real World and so on. Or create additional sub categories for storing them. You'll probably find it quicker than hiding all your dials and wondering where they were hidden the next time you come to look for them.
