Genesis 8 female uvs for Genesis 3 female

Hi I was just wondering if this is possible, I still have not fully taken the plunge into gen 8 but I do like some of the skins and I have a lot of morphs for it. I know there is a gen 3 to gen 8 uv converter but is there one doing the other way around

  • They are the same. G8F uses the G3F base UV.

I've tried loading G8F presets onto G3F and they don't work. I suspect the UV maps are the same, but not directly interchangable.

    Don't load a hierarchical preset.

  • And if you have a character set where the full skin mat only comes with a hierarchical preset, just load it onto G8F and save as a normal materials preset first, this will apply fine to G3F.

  • They're the same UVs? This is good to know. Thanks for mentioning it. I may use G8F after all.

Which seems to be what the ones I have (including the base female) is. Thanks for the hint.

Yep, most of the main mat presets seem to have switched over to this; they look for a G8F node and bust.

You can wear any G3 textures that uses the Base UV on G8 characters. If you have any trouble applying the mats, just save them as a material preset and then load them that way. :)

Presets do not work. But you can copy and paste surfaces from one model to the other in the surface tab if you load both models in a scene. They will work fine after that. Just make sure the surfaces are using the same material settings (Iray or AoA.) Then you can save your G3 as a preset for future use.

It's way easier to load to G8F and save a material preset. Only hierarchical ones don't work because they look for nodes in addition to surfaces.

Oh, I thought since the other presets did not work that doing it this way would not work. That certainly would be faster.

If just need to open duf preset materiel gf8 and rename "genesis8female" to "genesis3female" works with all presets gf8.

On another note this technique also works for dForce clothes.  I've been able to have my G3F characters wear G8F dForce clothes but went crazy trying to get the MATs to work till someone gave me this tip (load G8F, dForce clothes, apply the MAT then save the MAT of the clothes as a Material preset.  It should also be observed that there is at least 1 case of a dForce outfit where the MATs also work when the item is fitted to a G3F but it seems to be just the one.

Hope this helps expanding your G3F use to G8F stuff!
