dforce is the best Force

So I made one pic to test stuff, and of course picked the most obnoxious pose as possible for simulation. Pretty good!

Hey peeps, where are settings for uh um like thick sort of rubber hose?

    ...for no specific reason, why?

...no I don't have Singers of Chzor on screen, gawd.

All of the surface settings can be adjusted and the settings required for any given effect will greatly depend on mesh density etc.

Yeah, but has some enterprising soul premade ones, because it is almost midnight and I don't want to get experimental, or I won't sleep tonight. laugh

Yeah just saw the demo and I am quite impressed. Indeed, a "Knock the Socks off" feature as I mentioned on the main thread.

I maded more. And more obnoxious poses to test! And now that I found where I can add the dforce surface, I'm getting closer to experimental mood, except midnight and need to be in the bed!

    Nuuuuuuu, it's her style!

(Or I am just lazy, your pick.)

FYI everyone should feel free to post their tests of stuff to this thread.

Going to take me a while to work it all out but yay.

Well, rather, it's the new Daz physics engine, which is starting with clothes (but they promise will simulate more things eventually).

Ohhh That sounds exciting!! Is it only certain clothing that can be dynamic or is it any clothes?

Most anything from what I can tell, though some folks are having trouble getting it to work right now.

It's new today so it's no wonder you haven't heard of it yet ;) It's a physics engin for DS and will definitely be something I use a lot once I get it all figured out. So far it works as a nice dynamic cloth simulator but I'm looking forward to new physics capabilities in the future too.

    For details, check here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203081/dforce-start-here#latest

It creates amazing results when it works as it should... I have a problem with 9 out of 10 clothes I tried to convert for use in dForce. If it works, it's great, but right now, the frustration factor is killing the fun for me.

Oh, and you can create amazing simplosions with it, too.

It also apparently only works in DS 4.10, so until that's out of Beta, I'll have to enjoy it vicariously, and then take advantage of all the experience once I can play. :)

I managed to drape a plane over a sphere! So yeah, in theory it can work with anything modeled correctly.  I foresee a bright future of rigged clothes with preconfigured draping surfaces. Maybe a new opportunity for collaboration if people end up good at it. Ooooh. Imagine buying texture add-ons that come with surfaces that have been preset to behave like silk or brocade or velvet...,

They would need to be set up for a specific item though, shader presets for use on anything arn't going to work because how something behaves is very dependant on how dense the polygon count is, and how the lines travel between the polys.  If you have a pair of pants with a lower polycount you can make the simulation settings really loose and flowy but it's still going to look fairly ridged.

You can see the difference with just your sphere and plane, quadruple the polycount on your plane and it will drape much differently at the same simulation settings.

    Yay for G-Force!!

Though I'm also excited for dForce

Yeah, I was definitely thinking as part of a materials set, not a shader set. I’m just... in love with lush textures but not a huge fan of endlessly tweaking settings to make stuff drape properly so I will definitely be in the market for the preconfigured stuff. Though I guess most of that will be for G8 and I’ve been slow getting into that....

TBH, a lot of clothes are at "base" level (I know that rather well, since I have had to add some SubD to handle some crankiest things) -- what happens if you add SubD to it and then run the simulation? Worth a shot.

  • FistyFisty Posts: 3,416

I don't know if it uses base or sub-d to calculate in that instance. =)

  • BeeMKayBeeMKay Posts: 7,019

It has a setting for base or screen resolution base of the simulation, at least.

hahah I kind of like it. :)  Maybe with some artsy filters to make it look like a painting -name it "Passion". :)
