Genesis 3 shape onto Genesis 8 w/o Genx

I've heard here and there that no more GenX versions will be coming out. Does anyone know a way to get a Genesis 3 shape/character
onto a Genesis 8 model?

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I do hope that someone picks up that particular torch. I've come to rely heavily on GenX for this sort of thing.
