How to properly save props for sharing?

Good night guys, I'm facing some problems, I created a car model on 3ds Max, imported it into daz and tried to share it with a friend of mine by following this guide: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/packaging/tutorials/packaging_genesis_morph_products/start.
That didn't work at all, his daz keeps trying to find the materials on my library, so I searched the internet and couldn't find a guide for it, so now I come here searching for help, how do I properly share props? I guess that should be same as creating a store asset, but I couldn't find it either... so does anyone know how to do it properly?

Were the maps applied from the Runtime/Textures folder in a kown content directory? If not then the references will have the absolute path to the location on your disc.
No, I created the maps by hand on the surfaces tab.
No, you didn't - the Surface pane doesn't have map crteation tools. I mean the image files you applied through the Surfaces pane (if any).
So no, I haven't created any maps, just did the materials configurations on the surfaces tab.
Ah, OK. What is the root folder(s) of the zip, and where is the other user placing it/them?
This is the folder hierarchy
Desktop > PoliceCar
Inside the folder "PoliceCar":
Data
policeCar.duf
policeCar.png
After the last post we managed to make it work, he is now merging his data folder with this, and by doing that the car appears on his library, but if I were to change the car surfaces, or put some texture maps, would I have to change anything?
If you want to include any folders before the Data folder you need to make sure that users know that it's the data folder and any sibling folders that need to be merged into theuir content diectory - textures would go in Runtime, the .duf and .png would usually go into a subfolder too - something like Props>Vehicles>Me>Police Car say (then anay material presets could be in Props>Vehicles>Me>Police Car>Materials, any poses in Props>Vehicles>Me>Police Car>poses and so on).
Ok, I think I understood, but after putting all the textures, props and etc in their folders, do I need to do something else? Or am I able to create the package and distribute like that, just like a store asset would be? And will the surfaces configurations that I did pass along as well?
And sorry to bother you with so many noob questions, I have been struggling with this problem for a while now.
As I said above, when I thought you had textures, you do need to apply the textures from your content library not from elsewhere to ensure that DS saves with relative paths that will work on another machine. Subject tot hat, no you should just need to zip up (but please add a readme giving usage rights and a brief description of the item).
Thank you for all the amazing help Richard, I'll do it as you said, I just don't think a readme is needed because I'm just sharing a 3d model I did with a friend, and as we're working together it should not be a problem, but if I someday decide to release it as a freebie I'll gladly comply
Can I ask a question on here or do I need to start a new thread?
Isn't that a question?
If it follows on from the earlier discussion here would be fine, if it is only tangentially connected thena new therad would probably be better.
