Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Victoria 4 can't apply textures

So in continuing to attempt to figure out what is going on, I loaded the DUF file onto V6, which appears to be just fine as can be seen in image 1.

I then recreated the DUF, and loaded G8F went through steps again and I get what is in images 2 & 3... close but no cigar.

The textures, bumps and specular are again a mixmash of multiple characters.

What you have in images 2 & 3 is exactly what I have if I delete the geografts and before I run the 'Apply V4 UVs' script - with the exception of the Arms surface.  So nearly there.

One question is - where are the geografts?

    I have no idea.

    Where would I find them?

One thing, my G8F have been given a V4 Hidden full body morph, so that V4 clothing will conform, would that have done anything or broken the UV Mapping?

The geografts should load when you run the '!Prepare Genesis 8 Female' script which is in "People > Genesis 8 Female > Anatomy > Legacy UVs" of the Content Library.  If you have not been running this script that would also explain why the textures have not been loading correctly, because the script adds legacy surface names to Genesis 8 Female.

The V4 Morph should not affect the UV Mapping.

As per the directons in the PDF, I have been running this:  Genesis 8 Female UV Prep Pose

    Applying the Texture DUF

and then runnning this: set victoria 4 uv

Is there another step I am missing?

Also neither of these files are in the directory as indicated.

The Genesis 8 Female UV Prep Pose is in: "My DAZ Library> People> Genesis 8 Female> Developer Kit"

    The set victoria 4 uv is in: "My DAZ Library> Data> Cloud> 1_16559> People> Genesis 2 Female> Materials> Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female"

This is where the install put them, I've not moved these.

It looks like you don't have Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Victoria 4 at all!  Not having the product might be quite a good explanation for it not working. laugh

The Prep pose is not the same as the Prepare script, and the UVs you are using are for Genesis 2 Female.

My product was created to solve the sorts of problems you have been having, so if you decide to buy it I think you'll find that you can get Camielle for V4 on Genesis 8 Female without a hitch.

    All the best!

    Hi,

Can you tell me what I have to do to apply correctly only a LIE preset from V4 to G8?

To be clear, I want to keep the G8 basic skin and I'd like to apply a Tattoo LIE made for V4.

According to my understanding, this doesn't work. You can have either the G8 UV mapping or the V4 UV mapping with geografts as helpers.

That's why I abandoned this product and switched to the Texture Converter 2, which makes a bitmap conversion from V4 to G3/G8.

Dam... I really need it for a job and I already bought Texture Transformer 2 but I can't do what I need, please can you tell me if Texture Converter 2 can do it? And what I have to buy? I see there are various addons.

I wonder if you apply the LIE preset to a V4 figure, make the skin layer transparent, save the LIE preset as a new image, then run that new image through TC2 (Unless you already have the LIE image on your HD then you might just be able to skip to the last step)

You have to save a V4 figure, with just the tatoo applied and then go through TT2 (you need the Add-On pack Victoria 4 to Genesis 3 Female) and then you should have a map that fit to G3/G8.

If a map is missing it can easily be converted by assigning it as material/diffuse map in the right place to V4.2 before exporting it. This allows to convert any maps for Genesis 3, as Texture Transformer simply works on RGB files.

Yes, I have the LIE images in png format, this is the preset I'd like to use on G8: https://www.deviantart.com/adamtls/art/Spotted-Alien-Overlays-168346166

But I dunno how to make the V4 skin layer transparent, sorry I never worked with this figure and not-iray materials.

Since you already have the LIE image in png, I would think running it through TT2 (Oops, I said TC2 before) should reposition the LIE to fit the same spot on G3/G8

    I'll have to try it.

I tried with TT2 but doesn't work, I can apply only the basic surface for V4 to G8, instead when click to apply the LIE nothing happens.

You have to save a V4 figure, with just the tatoo applied

How? I tried to save it as LIE preset, Material preset, exported as .cr2, doesn't work.

    EDIT

Browsing the folder with converted textures from TT2 I found the mistake, the LIE isn't applied, there's only the skin, so it's for sure a problem cause by this one:

I don't understand how to fix it, please check the attached screenshots. Where's the error?
Seems like it doesn't support LIE.

    Solved.

Maybe for someone could be useful so here's what I did:

    - Converted the LIE in jpg, background black, tattoo white
    - Removed every skin map from the V4 figure, left only the Tattoo b/w
    - Saved as material preset
    - Converted with TT2
    - Applied on G8 as Overlay

    NEVERMIND.

I thought Singular3D was saying that there was a V4 to G3 add on for TC2, but he was really talking about TT2.
