Huh. Well, if you're patient, I suppose you could erase those pixels in your graphics program and still use the layering fix. Time might be an issue, though. Maybe you could use the clone tool and cover up those bad pixels with good ones in the surround area. Good luck, however you solve the problem. I hope to see your image in the entry thread. You've got 6 hours and 48 minutes left!

I've got an image I'm working on, too. Looks like we both need to "get crackin'" laugh

  • That leaves me 'til 9am to fix it. Gonna be an all nighter. At least I got my first entry in already. LOL.

  • You guys all have about 45 minutes left to get those entries submitted. Happy New Years!

Phew! I barely made it. Talk about stress! LOL

    Woohoo! It's 2018 in Dazzyland.

  • I just posted the Closed sign on the door everyone. Thanks for participating. I'll have the counts soon as to how many entries we had and in which categories. I'll be creating the voting thread and I'll let everyone know when I have it posted and how to vote.

  • Just wanted to take this chance to say thanks for organizing the contest! Wasn't sure I would get any entries in and got three, a contest like this is a great way to get myself focused on completing some pictures. smiley Loved seeing all the other entries too.

  • Thanks, guys! It's been fun seeing all of the entries. I'm busy sorting through all of the images and giving them numbers and I'll have a voting thread up soon. Everyone did a fantastic job with their entries.  :)

Thanks for hosting again this year KM!!

You did a great job this year as well!!!

  • Okay, everyone. I've been through the Entry thread, several times. I think I have all of the entries officially downloaded and organized. I'll go back through one last time to make sure I didn't miss anyone. I should have the voting thread up in the next day or two.

For those of you who like stats, here they are.

    From 2015 contest:
    140 Entries Total

    From 2016 contest:
    98 Entries Total

    2017 entries:
    103 Entries Total

That's right, we totally blew by last year's number of entries. I think it's safe to say that the It's Raining Men Contest was a huge success this year. Now, it's just up to picking the winners. I'll you know when the voting thread goes live and everyone can start casting their votes.

I've added a link to the Voting thread in my signature, maybe a bit BIG, but I'm hoping we get lots of people voting... Maybe we can get some folks interested in entering next year, by getting them involved in voting this year. Who knows?

I was just on your WIP thread and saw your signature.  Looks good and much bigger than mine. :) I think it might attract some attention.  Hopefully.  :)

One thing to consider for increased participation next year is in the Commons the Celebrity Look-A-Like thread seems to be popular so maybe a new category Best Lookalike, with no hints. That category gives folk an excuse to cosplay too with is also a popular recurring DAZ content theme, eg, Star Trek, Star Wars, and too many shows I've never heard of. LOL

  • Okay, everyone! Guess who messed up? That's right me! One of the Carrara images didn't get put in the Carrara category. I've now added that. Anyone who has already voted, please go look at the category again. If any of you wish to vote again, PM me and I'll make arrangements to allow you redo your vote for fairness.

To that entry, I really apologize. Somehow, I messed up and didn't add the Carrara tag in my notes. I am so sorry.

I just voted and my first pass I pulled out over 20 entries I thought were worth a really close second look... and it was very hard to winnow down on that second look. I had to resort to tricks like 'picking one per artist' (when I could identify the artist) and then I practically built a point system that included 'evoked an emotional reaction in me', 'technical skill', 'specific points of excellence'. While I won't reveal my final choice, Giselle, you were one of the ones where I had to limit by artist-- I picked all three of yours in my first pass! Amazing work.

Aw, thank you! I had a lot of fun. I'm thinking I'm gonna continue doing the "Men of Thrones" series which started with Ambition then continued with Patience. Been thinking of other qualities that could be flaws or flaws that could be qualities I can add. Confidence might be the next once, since it can easily turn to arrogance.

And I agree, it was really hard. I ended up doing as you did. First picked them out for visually beautiful, then I picked out the best compositions. Even so it was extremely hard!

While the entry thread was still up, I was saving the thumbnails in order to count the entries. I still have those thumbnails on my computer, so I copied them all into a subfolder, set up a subfolder inside the first one, and started winnowing down by moving thumbs of images I knew I would vote for into the "Nope" folder, starting with my own. I winnowed it down to about 35 in the first pass, 20 in the second, and so on. When I had it down to about 10, I dragged the images from the voting thread so I could scrutinize them closer. First place was easy. I'd already determined which entry I was going to vote for, when I thought we were only going to vote for first place. It was whittling down another 99 images, (remember, I decided to not vote for any of my own,) to get two more. And then decide which should be second place and which should be third.

And that whittling was really, really hard with so many wonderful images.

Yeah, I did that too and I was surprised that wasn't included in the rules. Usually in competitions where we can both compete and vote, you have a rule stating you cannot vote for your own entry. I've always felt this rule was pretty fair, so I applied it here as well. Wouldn't feel right any other way. In fact, maybe adding the entries anonymously would've been even better.
