Difference between free and pro versions of Daz Studio 4.5

edited December 1969 in New Users

What is the difference between using the freely available Daz Studio 4.5 Pro software, and the one with the pro serial.

I remember reading somewhere about only 32 bit support for the former. Is this true? I have 8 GBs of RAM. So that would essentially mean not using 4.5GB of my RAM.

Please reply.

Nothing. DS4.5 Pro is the free version. The serial unlocks all the Pro tools.

DS4.5 Pro has a 64 bit and 32 bit version.

Those of us who paid for the pro version have Decimator without having to buy a license. I'm not sure that the freely diownloadable version includes all the plugins or a Pro serial number, but the free-in-the-store Pro does.

So does it mean that I can use the Daz Studio Pro 4.5 64bit version even if I don't pay a dime?

The 64 bit version of Daz 4 couldn't be used for free, right?

Yes. At this time the DS4.5 Pro version in both Bits is free. As stated Decimator is not included but can be bought separately.

To get the Full free version you need to BUY the free DS4.5 from the store. You will not be charged.

    Okay. Thanks for your replies.

At the moment, I have Daz Studio 4 installed in my computer. I plan to upgrade to 4.5 version (available as free download in the store as of now). I have a couple of questions before that -

    1. Can I install and use Daz 4 and Daz 4.5 simultaneously?
    2. I have content from Daz 4 which I would like to use in 4.5, too. Is it possible? Is version 4.5 backward compatible? I have stuff like Genesis figure, V4, M4, various poses, aniMate etc.

The content is backward compatible, You can not have DS4 and DS4.5 both installed as DS4.5 is a Updated version of DS4. You might need to Update some of your Content but that will cost nothing just re-download the items and you will have the Updated versions. I suggest you use the Genesis Starter Essentials that will come with the DS4.5 version. It will only update the Default content and not lose anything you now have installed.

For Best Results I would Uninstall DS4.0 and its CMS before you install DS4.5. If you decide to go back to DS4.0 just re download it and then your back to were your started if you like.

By telling me to uninstall the CMS, do you mean removing all my installed Daz content (which I have in C:\Users\Username\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library) that I had from version 4?
Let me state here that some of the content (mostly 'poses') did not come with installer files. I just copied them from the zip files in which they were made available. As far as I remember, none of that content was downloaded from the Daz store. They were made by other vendors, and were made available in their own websites.

The CMS is the Content Management Service that makes Smart Content Smart. It has also been updated from DS4.0 to DS4.5 it can be uninstalled using the Windows Un-Install Programs / Files or from your Programs section in the Daz3d Folder. I has its own un-installer.

EDIT to add: It is not Content and will not remove your content.
