    hello Casual
I think the materials of mcjJet 2 need a new order named mat00-mat09

is there a way to use the opacity/material planes directly from the script window ?

    first little example here

would it be hard to make a script for "ctr-d" for an animated range ?
I always do this frame by frame and that's not fun

it will probably be named something like mcjRepeatOverRange

coming soon ... it can repeatedly do the drop-to-floor ( Ctrl-D ) on the selected node(s) over a range of frames

    but will also let you

    delete keyframes

    add keyframes

    apply the last memorized pose/transform/morphs

drop something to the top of a target's bounding box

move something below a target's bounding box

mimic a target object's world or local position/rotation/scale

to change the opacity map , you select the root node of the billboards figure and in the surfaces panel you can quickly change the opacity map for all billboards

but if you mean the opacity map would change over time during the particle simulation .... i don't think i'll do that very soon

    UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

There is a new version of the Billboards figure, mcjBillboards2

and there is a new version of mcjJet 2

the new version of mcjJet2 is required to use the mcjBillboards2 figures

it's also required if you intend to use non-standard billboard figures

    the new Billboard figures :

    UPDATE UPDATE

if you select an object in a Daz Studio 4.5... 4.8 scene and use the "Create / Create new instances...." menu
you can creates 100 instances of that object ( or 1000 if you like )

if you rename the parent node of this object to "Billboards" you can use this as the mcjJet2 particles !
but the transparency and color ramp animations wont work, because only the original object has ... an object

    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjjet2?pli=1

here i animated 100 instances of a 8x16 torus and create a 120 frames animation

i explained the use of Daz Studio >4.5's "Instances" feature here

and i added little videos !! ( since i recently saw that we can insert our google-drive videos and animated gifs in ourt googlesites )

    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjjet2

see ..... air bubbles that slowly move up and enlarge then *pop*

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B74NpQ_FHc6cLUZ2TXdKbXNoVVU/view?usp=sharing

Fig2 - By the way, if you set specularity to strong and apply a texture to the reflection channel and make reflection strength100% ... and your DS4.7+ has the Edit/Preferences/Interface/Per-Pixel-Shading option on ... you get that great chrome effect in preview/OppenGL/Hardware mode which is super-fast to render

    the script now supports Uber-iRay

it detects and uses the Emission color instead of Ambient color

it detects and uses the Cutout channel instead of the Opacity channel

  • Ok so what I just donwloaded is the update. That means it won't work with 3DL, how do I get the older version that doesn't work with iray?

The new version still works with old materials but i will re-post the 2015 version as mcjJet2-2015. i only did 1 test with the billboards figure which have old DazDefault materials but i didnt test with 3delight renderer. I suspect that if the surfaces are Uber ( the new default shader for primitives and possibly for imported objs ) ... then it's better to apply tge DsDefault shader. I have that shader but i dont know if it comes with recent installs. If you dont have a dsdefault shader, if you load a prop and one of the materials is DsDefault ( recognisable because it has an opacity channel instead of cutout channel ) then you could save it as a shader preset that you would name ds default.

just remember that the 2015 version will fail on uber materials
so i think the best option for 3Delight renders is to use the new version but apply a classic DsDefault shader  to the billboards surfaces
    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjjet2/mcjJet2_5_5_2015.zip?attredirects=0&d=1

but i'll test some more to see if i'm telling the truth :)

I use Daz 4.10 due to having an older computer and iray just don't like me...lol  There is a folder called DS Defaults that appears to have the old default shaders they at one time had, then took out then put back again, inside they have the dzdefault and others inside. Could those be the one's you are talking about when asking about dsdefault?

yes the one with the whiteball is the one i use when i want the old-school default material

3Delight should be happy with that shader
