Content Gatherer

I just discovered that Content Gatherer ( https://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer ) doesn't appear to work if you are using DAZ Connect.

Is this a known issue? Is there a work around?

FYI, Content Gatherer does not work with DAZ Connect installed content. I am trying to get Product Support to understand this but having a difficult go about it.

Please see the attached example for more information.

What the graphic shows is two examples of the Content Gatherer program being used.

On the left is a DS file where the content in the scene was installed via DIM.

On the right is a DS file where the content in the scene was installed via DAZ Connect.

On the left the asset files have green circles showing that those assets are located and validated.

On the right the asset files have red circles showing that those assets cannot be located and are not validated.

Hence, the product description shown on the product page https://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer is not true.

"Content Gatherer is a stand-alone tool for Windows and Mac OS X used to analyze content files for DAZ Studio 4 (and up) and for Poser 7 (and up). It determines all dependent files used or required by a content or scene file and locates them on the file system."

In addition, this statement on the product page is not true:
"Finally, Content Gatherer will list all or selected files as a list with the actual files on your file system to pack them into a ZIP archive or to create a text list for the files."

I have asked Support to add a small disclaimer to this end so that future purchasers are not mislead.

  • Does anyone know if Content Gatherer works on a Mac running macOS High Sierra? I ask because most of D3D's other scripts use the Tkinter library and my Mac keeps telling me that's no longer supported and that developers should use wxPython isntead. But I very much want to find a product like Content Gatherer for packaging props for Poser!
