new version still gives error

edited November 2018 in Daz Studio Discussion

With Studio 10 I still get the SQL CMS error saying no valid connection established. What the heck would be causing this? What I have to do is reinstall both 64 bit sql and studio....and the Leave the program opened. It works fine this way but once I close the program it reverts back to the erro upon opening. With the error it only finds about half the installed objects. (Um yes, my original or bio name was Drapeau).

  • That could be a security software issue. it could also be a folder permissions issue, if you have ever run DS as administrator, or if you are closing and immediately relaunching it could simply be timing as the processes are still closing when you relaunch.

I asked before but forgot to check back as there's no notifications. Studio...is the only program I've ever had that starts up with an error about SQL CMS not connecting. Does it even need to seeing I work off line!? When it does this Studio only finds a fraction of installed objects. I have to reinstall both Studio and SQL pack to get it fully operational. That's doable - but I would have to leave the program open because as soon as I close it it reverts back to error mode needing yet another reinstall. I seem to have ongoing issues with both Studio and Hex!

  • DS uses a local connection with PostgreSQL to handle the Content Management System database. This has nothing to do with being onlne, it's purely communication between two applications on your local machine. There can be issues if you shut down a different application (such as Install Manager) that uses PostgreSQL just before starting DS (or vice versa); there can also be permission issues if you have run DS (or Install Manager) as administrator; and of course there can be conflicts with security software, depending on what you use.

  • I brought this up before and have found no remedy still. Upon start up of Studio 4.10 (on Win 7) I keep getting that error dialog. The only way to get rid of it is to reinstall both Studio and associated SQL item; each time I want to use Studio. What's up with this as all other programs work fine but Studio? Closing the dialog Studio works fine, but for finding all items installed and that's the issue.

  • Please stop posting new threads on the same topic - I have replied to both of your previous threads with information and things to check, see if those help and if they don't post an update to this merged thread. Also moved to Daz Studio Discussion.

  • Well not much has changed since Studio ran fine. Is there anything in say microsoft security essentials I should check? I used superspy ware also. Error shows no matter what I do and I don't use the install manager that much.

  • Have you checked that PostgreSQL is running when DS or DIM or both are running? I'm not sure which, of SuperSpyWare and windows, would be providing firewall functions since I am not at all familiar with the latter - you could try discojnnecting from the net, then turn it off, and see if DS launches without error - if it does that at least identifies the likely cause (turn it back on before reconnecting to the net, of course).
