Well this is a good example of how consistency is important. If one compares the two, the first is the one most people would notice and remember.

For me, it didn't mean the "whole month of May". To me that first statement just meant that if you received the coupon in April, you couldn't use it in April. The statement on the website, as opposed to the email, just makes it more specific as to when in May it would be valid. I never read it to mean the whole month of May.

Actually I did a screen print of the offer info on the "sales-promotions" page of the website on April 27th and it said something slightly different...

    I just noticed...

The advertising - both versions - says "receive a $10 COUPON towards any $30 or more purchase of DAZ Originals".

It does not say "receive a $10 COUPON towards your first $30 or more purchase of DAZ Originals".

Has anyone tried re-using the coupon?

The coupon does say "Off Your Next Purchase of DAZ Originals"

That could be a case of misleading advertising, then. (Rendo is careful to say "on your next purchase" in all of their advertising.)

I find that after eight years of buying DAZ originals, the numerous March Madnesses, Buy one get one(or at least one time, buy one get two) sales, the discounts with coupons, and the change over to using coupons on DAZ originals instead of the old vouchers which could be used on PA items, I am DAZ originaled out. I tried, but I couldn't find anywhere near $30 worth of DAZ originals that I want.

The way I read it, it does mean for the next purchase only.

I have only been here a little over a year and even I am having a difficult time. I have bought a lot since February, '12. With the limited use of DO's only, if you are unable to use it on new releases, hence the time frame issue, or don't care for any of them, it is becoming extremely difficult to utilize them.

It appears with the targeted marketing and complex discount criteria were seeing - that marketing dept is beginning to take advantage of data analysis from the new systems and they are experimenting with various offerings. In 2012, it was the shotgun approach, now they are scoping in the marketing efforts like a rifle shot. You can see the emotional response of the consumers that its having some effect. Further data analysis from these explorations will reveal more accurate consumer patterns, and the effectiveness of the various approaches. Then I suspect more consistent marketing efforts that "make sense" and garner more positive response will emerge.

Y'know, some time ago, that's exactly what I would have guessed is going on. But we are talking about a company here, that lacks so much in know-how and resources that it is unable to run a single of their dozens of sales without some kind of problem. That is unable to maintain even the remotest of consistent communication with it's customer base. That needed over a year to bring the rather vital download section of the 'account' page up to speed. And that managed to turn it's website update into the biggest online catastrophe that I have ever witnessed.

I do not think that there's any kind of elaborate 'strategy' going on. DAZ is simply not that professional. They're just tryin' out whatever they feel like.

I think DAZ has a problem, as most of us do, which is finishing what they have started.

Of course that list does not include Jack Tomalin. I think he is an alien from another planet. How can any one person put out so much content. Maybe he has figured out a way to clone himself.

Things that I feel need addressed are:

Log in Log out issues. (I get logged out of the forum, have to go into the store, log out, then log back in, all of the time)

Smart content on several items do not work. (I know some of you hate Smart Content, but I think it was a smart idea)

Creating working Smart Content on all pertinent items. (Once again I know some of you do not utilize this)

Can we get some sort of control on our wishlists? (I'm tired of putting crap in my cart then putting it back into the wishlist a certain way so it has some sort of order)

Can we see who the PA is in the wishlist. (it would help for several of types of sales DAZ has)

There are many other issues and some certainly more important than I have listed.

Some things I am glad have been done are:

The DIM (what an ingenious idea)

The new Product Library (so much better)

Knowing items that have already been purchased, including those in a bundle (thank you DAZ, certainly one of the most important)

There are probably a few other things that could be added other than getting crap to work half ass on a regular basis.

Its real easy for a retail company to loose its way and disconnect from its customers - JC Penny is the latest glaring example. (SEE NEWS LINK) They discovered that and reversed its direction. I think DAZ has gone to extremes to avoid that. That's not to say growth has not come without mistakes and technical stumbles (ok, there was a face plant) - but they have ALWAYS communicated and offered generous goodwill towards their customers. I know support was overwhelmed, and even ineffective - but in the end wrongs were righted and things got squared away. It may not have been convenient for the consumer nor DAZ, but the commitment to achieve satisfaction with the customer was always present. I cant recall a single firm who demonstrates this level of concern. Not many company's gives away so many freebies and discount to encourage sales at the level of DAZ - so its hard to compare. OK I heard someone mutter Harbour Freight Tools- wont go there...

I noticed that several items in my runtime were missing the Smart Content, even though the Installed Content list in the DIM showed it should be there by the checkmark in the column for it. Excepting Items such as texture sets for certain hair or clothing items (some of which only show up in Smart Content when the item the textures are made for is loaded into the scene and selected), the following restored the Smart Content for me:
Keep in mind this will only work this way if you have set up the DIM to save a copy of the files when downloading and installing.
    1. Uninstall the file with missing smart content. This will place the download in the files to be installed page in the center pane of the DIM.
    2. Re-install the file from there.
    3. Load up 4.5 and see if the Smart Content is there now.

This worked for me in every case. Apparently sometimes the installation does not fail, but does not really completely install. I guess the Smart Content may be the last part of the install process. I've even noticed some individual parts of a product had been missing and showed up after the re-install.
I think this is more likely to happen when downloading and installing a larger list of separate products. in one go.
    Hope this helps.

To any PC members wondering about this, I loaded up my cart with PC and Value items and it appears that this coupon does work on those categories. (I don't think this is a "glitch" as they are DAZ Originals, and the e-mail didn't say they were excluded...just thought this information might be helpful)

This would have been useful information before I wasted it on the purchase of an item that doesn't show up in DazStudio... Maddening..

I also got the coupon, and noted it said 1 week. I'm on a budget, and I already spent most of my budgeted amount on the Ken birds that I wanted since last year. I don't know if I can find something that will give me the most value with the coupon to justify going over budget for next month. It's not like this is a perishable commodity, for pete's sake! You know, like when the market advertises corn on the cob for 10 cents an ear instead of 1dollar each. They gotta sell it, you gotta buy it in the short span of time or it perishes.
