where should the DSON files and Genesis files be installed in the library?

Hi,

I'm a Mac user and I've downloaded the DSON files (they installed in the "default" library) and they don't show up in Poser. The intent is to import Genesis into Poser. So far, all the instructions I've found (including screenshots) are for windows.

Can anyone tell me where these files belong and maybe provide a screenshot from a mac so I can follow the structure? I'm visual so that would help a lot! With all these files I feel like I'm wading through a swamp - blindfolded...

Thanks in advance.

I will flag this for our Mac CV, please give them time to respond. Maybe another user will offer help before then.
I hope you get help without waiting too long.

The "Genesis Starter Essentials" and "Genesis Starter Essentials PoserCF" need to be installed to a writeable runtime known to Poser. The DSON Importer itself needs to be installed to the internal runtime.

    Thanks,

I'm still confused with the Runtime folders - would I put the DSON into the (highlighted) Poser 9 Content-Runtime folder or into the Poser 9 Content-Downloads-Runtime? Do I create a new Runtime folder or do I install the Genesis files into the same folder as the DSON files?

The Genesis Starter Essentials and GSE PoserCF can be installed to either of those; the DSON Importer must be installed to the Runtime in the application folder (the one with Poser.exe in it).

Mac doesn't have .exe appelications :D

I must say it's a HUGE struggle to get this work right on a Mac in Poser!

Actually, PRD.Art, it's been months since I've even opened Poser so I can't say how difficult this is going to be. I'll install the DSON into the Runtime folder and keep playing with it until it works, I guess. The Applications folder is the same no matter what platform you're using after all.

On a Mac I assume it would be poser.app

I figured it out yesterday .. after a day struggle it seemed very easy actualy:

    1. install Service Release 3 for Poser first!

    2. then download the right SDON :
    - if you have Poser 32 bits you need DSON 32 bits
    - if you have Poser 64 bits you need DSON 64 bits

    3. install the DSON clicking the automatic installer
    - you can choose the root Poser folder while installing (in my case applications/ Poser Pro 2012

    4. relaunch Poser .. and voila!

It's very important you do it all in the right order and then it will work as a charm :D

What version of Poser do you have? Did you use DIM or the regular *.exe installer (if memory serves, I'm thinking the *.exe version since IIRC you said you use those over DIM for addons/plugins/etc)?

I'm only asking to see if maybe there's something different between yours and mine. I got the importer working immediately after buying PP2012/SR3, and now also have it working in PP2014 (uninstalled it from 2012 though).

Poser 9 and it's not that. Its the PC config. I never run a standard config and I'm just not able to track down which custom thing I did that causes it to fail.

I customized a lot as well. I disabled a lot of things due to using an SSD for my C:, and moved a lot of files/folders/system libraries usually on C: over to D/E: (including page file and system temp folders- those are on E:). I did not, however, do anything with C:\Users\V\AppData. Did you by chance customize the appdata stuff?
