Collision/Gravity/Animation Questions

So a few quick newbie questions about Collisions and Gravity that I hope someone can help with. If you know of a good guide about either of these subjects feel free to post it and I'll look through it...

1) Some objects have the "Collision" variable/switch available for editing within an object. Can you force this variable/option to show when it doesn't by default (assuming I already have "Show Hidden" active)?

2) Outside of "Dynamic Clothing" can you set an object, or piece of an object, to collide against multiple objects (the default for normal objects appears to only allow collision with 1 object)?

3) I've only purchased 1 piece of "Dynamic Clothing" and I've noticed that when I apply its material to other clothes, they gain several properties such as two types of "Weight," length limiters, etc. These variables do operate on the object, but I haven't been able to get them to work as expected. Will these variables work for objects/clothing other than the default piece they came with?

4) Does DAZ really have the capability to handle collision for animating purposes, or do I need to use some other program for animation with collision (I've been looking at iClone because of its purported motion capping with a Kinect, which I have)?

5) [Realizing this is a similar question] Is there a program you would recommend for someone who would like to get into animation without being limited by the program itself, that also works with DAZ for character building (because I've already spent too much on DAZ to just leave all that proprietary content behind)?

Thanks for all the help, answers, and advice!

The collision detection is part of the Smoothing Modifier, so you need to apply one (Edit>Figure>Geometrry>Apply Smoothing Modifier) to get the control. It is limited to looking for and removing collision (interpenetration) with one other item only. It will update during an animation, but it isn't a system like Bullet physics for cloth or hard body simulations, and DS doesn't currently have such a tool (there was work being done on a Bullet implementation, butt hat seems to have died).

Although the properties of dynamic clothes are material properties they can't be transferred to non-dynamic clothing, I'm afraid.

    Richard,

Thanks for this. I was spending time using tricks like morphs and scale factors to make clothes fit. Apply smoothing modifier was just what the doctor ordered.
