The solution copied in post 1 worked a treat - I just modified the parameter of the "duplicate" parameter shown in the log for the actual scene which first exhibited the problem by saving its new B color value and then File -> Save As -> Support Asset -> Save Modified Assets . It seemed to work fine because the parameter still operates as expected but there are no more duplicate formula errors associated with that item in that scene or others.
i have tried and retried this fix and it will not work not matter what i do
here is an example of my log.
please help. nothing short of uninstalling seems to work, but i want these morphs!
i see that my log did not appear but the offending morphs are from
200 Plus Head and Face Morphs for Genesis 8 Female(s)
i know that this is the one from the log and when i uninstalled it there were no duplicate formula errors
interesting that it is a daz product and it's male counterpart does not create any issues
if daz put a 'don't show this notice again' check box in the dialogue, it would be fine. daz would procede and i could use a batch render tool as this is my main moyivation to fix this
Do you also have the Rarestone Head Morphs? There was a conflict in naming between the two on first release, but there was an update to the Rarestone set to resolve it. Another possible issue might be if you had transfered the Genesis 3 morph set to Genesis 8. Remember that in general* this is a conflict between two packs, not an error in a single pack, it's just that the log lists the second (and later) of the morphs with the duplicated names.
* the error is triggered when two properties with the same name each has an ERC link to a property with a particular name. Occasionally that can happen in a single property, if the ERC link was frozen twice in succession, but those wold probably be caught and fixed by the developer or QA.
thanks for getting back to me.
rarestone's face morph for G8F - yes i have installed
rerestone's face morph for the girl 8 - yes i have installed
i have never transferred any morphs from G3 to G8 (as far as i know)
ERC link?
so the conflict is likely with rarestone's? but i altered the 200 plus morph (in this case called 'cheeks size (alt)' as the instructions show and reloaded daz and got the same error in the log. are you saying i should try altering the rarestone morphs? if so how do i identify them? there are a lot!
so for the cheek size (the offender) i see 'cheeks size' the original G8F iassume 'cheeks size (alt)' 200 plus' and 'RS cheeks size'. do i alter all, some, different parameter? the name and label of any of them do not conflict although rarestones name says 'cheeks size' and the original G8F morphs label says the same (cheeks size) is this the conflict? or only if the name and/or label are both the same? ie: label and label or name and name?
i've been trying to share a glimpse of my log but a small .txt file will not upload and the is no copy and paste
fixed! did the insructed fix on all three. boom! no duplicate errors.
thanks again
Don't alter anything - just make sure you have the current versions of both morph sets from Daz installed, in their unmodified forms.
now i'm batteling with yet another morph
how do you do that? know you have the current versions i mean?
Download the item from your Product Library, it will give you the current version of the files.
thank you
I seem to have a "duplicate formula" error which does not want to go away, even after doing the color-change and resave.
The offending character is the FHM LY Briallen character, and it seems it has several morphs - they're all baked into the FHM_LY_Briallen.dsf though.
I've tried modifying the Body, Ears, Head and just Briallen parameters, with no luck. Anyone else had this problem, or know which asset it's colliding with?
Example from log:
LY Briallen was updated some time back to resolve this - redownload and reinstall, if that doesn't work make sure that you don't have left-over files from a previous isntall (could happen if oen went via Connect and one via DIM, or if you are installing to a different location now but still have the old one connected, or if you have restored a back-up with the old version of the files).
I'm getting the same as Obsidian Rose....
Same question as snake. What do you mean everything?
This is a partial capture of the hot mess I am getting...

First off the Duplicate Formula errors in the OP were from using DS4.0 assets in DS4.5+, 4.0 didn't use the DSON code base.
The Duplicate Formula errors everyone is getting now is a completely separate issue, and my "fix" wont work for this issue.
Looking at some of these errors it's hard to tell if it's bad metadata buggering things up, or bad coding doing it or both.
Take this one as an example - 2019-12-16 23:46:15.827 WARNING: ..\..\..\..\..\src\sdksource\fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5995): Duplicate formula found linking xEnd & MCM_RS_MeiLin8Navel_HDLv4 in /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Female/Morphs/DAZ Originals,Raziel,Silver/Hinako for Mei Lin 8/MCM_RS_MeiLin8Navel_HDLv4.dsf.
One of my friends has Mei Lin 8 as well as Hinako, and they don't give her any errors, but then she doesn't use Smart Content, Connect or any of the rest of that "junk" (her words not mine, but Richard knows from my posts that my opinion of the system is even worse than that).
Even the pathway isn't even close, why DS is looking for G8F morphs in G3F's morph folder beats me, which is what makes me think buggered database (ie metadata), or PEBKAC.
That looks like bad files - possibly they failed to decrypt properly when downloaded. Try uninstalling the product and reinstalling it. I assume it's probably https://www.daz3d.com/body-by-sublime-iii
Thanks everyone. Will have to open a ticket with DAZ.
It's bizarre because it is lookig for Mei Lin G8 naval for a G3 Teen Josie. Makes no sense.
Had you converted soem Genesis 8 morphs to Genesis 3?
I did convert some g8 characters to g3 using RiverSoft Art Character Converter from Genesis 8 Female to Genesis 3 Female recently and one was a Mei based character. Usually Riversofts stuff is top notch though. Would deleteing those conversions help?
https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-8-female-to-genesis-3-female
plaul2002
i havent converted anything using that Riversoft script before today ...but i still constantly recieved the error
now, using the script, i keep getting the same error.. it's more of a problem because if i am not here to hit continue, it adds time to the conversion time
I just want to add that I am having the same exact issue after using RiverSoft Character Converter Gen 8 to Gen 3.
Has anybody found a fix yet?
For my character converter products, it is an issue with the JCM conversions. If you delete the JCM/MCM morphs, it will go away. I am submitting an update to fix this next week.
Here's a little clarification on this step
2) find the offending morph(s) in the Parameters tab...
2a) Look for "Duplicate" in the log file and get the names of the offending files
2b) Find the offending files in the data folder and open them in Notepad. You may need to decompress them first
2c) Look at "label" to find the name of the dial
2d) Look at "group" to find the location in the Parameters or Posing tab
My log reports no duplicate files, but I get the duplicate message when loading the basic Genesis 8 model.
I assume you mean Duplicate Formulae? That is not related to duplicate files, it is usually a conflict between two products, so even if the file names match their sizes will be different and they will not be seen as duplicates.
So I tried this to fix the duplicate formula error I was getting... and you should definitely not do this if you don't know what you're doing...
Why do you think the developers still can not make the program just ignore duplicates? Every time you load a project, you wait for an hour, if the scene has a lot of characters. Can't they just add duplicates to the exception once and then forget about it?
In my case, this just started today - there were three morphs with two characters from the same vendor that were duplicates.
This solution worked great and cleared the duplicate errors. Thanks for posting this!
