Is your card driver updated to a recent version?
Also, the card has just 1GB of memory, so it could only render very small scenes. Most clothed and haired Genesis start out at 1.5-2GB with all the maps. In that case, the render drops from card to CPU. You can test if this is the case by loading a simple primitive and see if that renders.
EDIT: cards are used to render faster than CPU, but rendering CPU also works. It just takes a lot longer, usually.
Yeah i tried to update it with windows, it loaded and said that the best pilot are already installed for my card...
i'm on windows 7, i selected both on photoreal devices and interactive devices my card Geforce GTX 650, and i can't do any render or any preview, nothing is loading and nothing is happening.
when i choose CPU, it's working but it's very slow and my comp is laggy (i guess because it's rendering from CPU)
is there anything else i could try ?
thank you !
but the last pilote are from 04/08/2012, i don't know, but the card is old yeah...
i'll try with a simple primotive and tell you what happen !
i just checked i loaded a cube and tried to render it and it's not working at all ! lol
maybe it's because my card is too old ?
But at the moment i only need to render really simple scene to get a base for how to deal with shadow etc... in my painting in photoshop, my character doesn't have hair too... so i don't mind if my card is a bit old, i just would like to see it working, at least to do a faster preview because using the CPU i can't work it takes really really long.
Yes, probably.. Iray will stop working on older GPUs with one of the next updates: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/206696/daz-studio-4-10-pro-general-release-updated/p1
And yes, CPU is slow.
Have you considered rendering in 3Delight instead?
i tried 3Delight, it's really fast but there is no shadow on the ground and it doesn't look really good xD
and for the preview, it's still using NVIDIA iray, i like working with the preview because i can see how the render will looks like and play with the light in same time, but using CPU is really too slow i can't do anything that's why i wanted to use my card.
i guess if there is no other way i will have to buy a new card :\
thank you for your help !
In 3Delight, you have to select the light and manually activate the shadows. The cool thing about 3Dl is that you have 100% control over the shadows, and a lot of other great stuff.
But the look is, indeed, a bit different from Iray.

Also try getting your video card driver directly from NVIDIA. Windows installs the most recent stable driver they have that has passed their testing which is not necessarily the most recent or best driver.
I know this is an old post, but did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same problem with my GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, which other 3D artists recommended that I get for Daz Studio. It must be something with the drivers.
How old are your drivers? There's a minimum requirement for the version to use:
REQUIRES NVIDIA Driver 441.22 (or newer) on Windows for pre-Turing GPUs, 442.19 (or newer) on Windows for Turing GPUs;
I've just discovered the same problem. I have the most current driver: 451.77
