Measure Metrics Pane not Showing

I have installed both Measure Metrics and Figure Metrics (numerous times) as well as all of the content to my Daz Content Library (again numerous times)

I can apply the Measure Metrics script from the sidebar and it successfully shows on the character and has all of the geometries load under the characters body parts in the Scene tab (I hope hope I used these terms correctly, sorry if I didn't)

However, when I go to open the MM pane, it does not show it as an option!

I have attached a picture of the folder contents. Like I said after unzipping I installed both the Figure and Measure Metrics .exe, as well as the contents of the Figure Metrics into My Daz Content Library. Am I missing something?

Please help!

  • Have you entered your serial number in help>About Installed Plug-ins and rstarted Daz Studio?

  • Thanks for the tip but in there it says the Plugin Failed to Load so I am obviously missing something.

The odd thing is that when I copy the content into my Daz Content folder it says that there are 90 of 141 files that are already in there, no matter how many times I load it in. So basically there are 51 files which are not being copied over even though they exist in the MM files, and I don't get any error messages.

    https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/serialnumbers for you serial number

And enter it in DAZ Stdio via Help ... About Installed Plugins ... Measure Metrics

Install it via DIM. Make sure you instal 32 bit plugin to 32 bit DAZ, 64 bit plugin to 64 bit DAZ and likewise for Public Beta compared to Release...so many ways to mess up without DIM.

Some of the files go into the Daz Studio executable directory - the plugin itself, of course, and I think some of the scripts. Best way to install plugins is with DIM.

I know what you mean but I keep my content files on a separate hard drive and for some reason have had issues with using the DlM, so I prefer to just drag and drop the files into a runtime folder as it is not currently set up to install it to the correct location. I have done that with a ton of content and have never once had an issue. I am wondering if it is an issue with the files themselves and whether downloading the MM program again would solve it... probably worth a shot.

I agree with what you guys are saying however. In other words is there a way to do it without the DlM? Sorry to be stubborn.

Well I have the 64 bit MM files for both release and public beta versions of DAZ Studio and have no problems using MM with either. In over 25 years of internet downloads I've have a corrupt download less than a dozen times that wasn't a problem with a reset connection or out of space error.

If you're dumping everything into your content library you're putting most of the files in the wrong place. First - the plugin (Measure Metrics) installs to your Daz Studio executable directory - see the 'measure metrics plugin' image attached. My DAZ Studio 4.5 (64-bit) directory is D:\bits-64\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 and the docs and plugins directories are under that.

Then 'figure metrics 1' shows the files that DIM installed to my content library and 'figure metrics 2' shows the files that end up in the application data directory. I had to trim 'figure metrics 2' to get it to upload - all the 'resource' files go to appdata/roaming.

DIM handles this for you with no deep thinking required.

  • Thank you all the information is very helpful, it looks like I may have to reconfigure my DlM and go that route

  • I am having a similar issue:

I have tried to run the DS4_MeasureMetrics_1.4.0.123_Win64.exe and I always get the same error:  The installation path for DAZ Studio could not be found...

    What am I doing wrong?

Uninstall the plugin. With DIM, delete the file you downloaded. Download the plugin again and install. That worked for me.

The channels match between application and plug-in - both Beta or both General Release?

Actually, since you are using the stand-alone installer then, if you installed DS through DIM, it won't have access to the stored path for DS. You should use the same instalaltion method for plug-ins and the base application so that everything matches - Install Manager is best.

Mine disappeared after my upgrade to 4.11. It wasn't even showing in the installed plug-ins. I had to force it to be reinstalled (by DIM in my case) by finding in the Installed tab and using the context menu to reinstall.

Have you entered your serial number in help>About Installed Plug-ins and rstarted Daz Studio?

I just purchased Measure metrics, and I am getting the same issue about it asking for a plug-in.  I followed this thread and I have located the serial number, as mentioned above, however, there is NO place to enter it under the help menu.  So what do I do now?

And yes, I have downloaded Measure Metrics using the Daz Install Manager. I have Daz Studio on an i7 64 bit machine running Windows 7.

    Thank you,

    Geo

Well, I would assume something like that should load in automatically, yes?  It wouldn't make sense for it not to.  At any rate, clicking on Help doesn't have an "About" section.  Under my account, I DID find a button there that lists the serial numbers and there is one for Measure Metrics.  I did find the script under "Utilities", but clicking on it yeilds a message that asks for the plug-in.  So I don't know what went wrong with the installation, but apparently I am not the only one this happened to.  Is this a glitch that needs to be reported?

    Thanks,

    Geo

The Help menu in Daz Studio.

Does your Help menu look like this?

There are separate Measure Metrics plugins for the General Release and the Public Beta, and each update has an updated plugin as well.  What version of DS are you using?

I haev version 4.12.  Ok, I managed to find it, however there isn't a spot to put the serial number and it comes up with an error message below.

It says, "Library could not be loaded, not a valid Daz Studio Plug In..."

    Sooo what gives with that?

    Thanks,

    Geo

That means the version of the plugin doesn't match the DS version.  Are you using the latest version of DS (4.12.1.117)?

Sorry for the late response.  Because I replied to an existing message, this thread doesn't show up in my forum messages.  So I forgot about it, but I still would like to get the Measure Metrics working.

I thought the latest version was 4.12.0.86.  There was another update?  How come I didn't get the 'to update' message in my Daz Install Manger?  Shouldn't Measure Metrics work anyway since it is much older than Daz 4.12?

    Thanks,

    Geo

@jukingeo "Shouldn't Measure Metrics work anyway since it is much older than Daz 4.12?"

IIRC, Measure Metrics started being updated around the time of Studio 4.11. Being older than 4.12 doesn't neacessairly mean anything older will work with new features (.e.g. dForce, Strand based hair, both needed Studio updates to work).

Not to mention, but you should be seeing a Measure Metric update in you DIM.

Make sure that in DIM's "Download Filters" you have "Plugins" ticked.  You should get plugin updates for the Daz3D-owned plugins whenever Daz Studio gets updated -- Measure Metrics, Dynamic Cloth Control, Decimator, Mimic Live (if you own them).

I just looked in DIM download filters, yes, Plug-ins is ticked.  I did notice that Daz Studio has an update now.  So that could be the new version.  But Measure Metrics is NOT on the list. I will have DIM update Daz Studio tomorrow.  Right now I have a slew of renders cooking and I don't want to interrupt that.

Apparently it was a combination of these.  For some reason, I received these updateds in my DIM much later than you guys received them.  So I updated Daz Studio first and I have 4.12.1.117 now.  I updated Measure Metrics which, oddly, just came through the other day.  NOW the field for the serial number became available and I put the serial number in and it works now.

THANKS!!    This was a big help as I ended up "buying" Measure Metrics on a package deal and in essence it worked out to be a freebie.  So I couldn't return something that cost $0.  It was a chance deal as I was so much on the fence about buying this because even with better sales, I never seen it go below $15, and I still felt that was a bit much.   But if I couldn't get it to work, I was just going to pull it off.   But with now having both items updated, that seemed to do the trick and the plug-in is showing up now.
