Gen3 and 8 whats needed?

Trying to get back in to Daz Studio and was always a Poser user so dont know alot. Drifted away when the successors to V/M4 were coming out. I remember the V/M4 figures you bought the base figure and a set of body morphs and a set of head porphs and this basically let you use the characters. And I understand that when looking at the various characters you ust look at the requirements because with everything out there it gets confusing. And I understand there are other packs that do wonderfull things like poses and expressions and muscles etc. But to just use basic characters is there anything else needed than the basic V/M3 and 8 figures?

You can use the base character, it's of course more limited but G3 and G8 is a little more flexible from the start compared to older ones.
Morph packages lets you add on morphs to change the shape of the characters in lots of different ways (body morphs, face morphs and so on)
A "character" is usually a head and body morph plus textures for skin and maybe some makeup and things (some characters require some morph packages or otherwise they will not work).
Pose packages gives you a set of predefined poses (you can pose the base character manually in any way you want).
soit does come with the basic morphs that will allow me to use characters unless they state a more advanced pack is needed? And thank you for answering :)
I couldn't live without the tons of tools available to customize the morphs of genesis 3 and 8, if you are new I suggest you start with G8 except for skins, all skins for G3 are fully aplicable and compatible with G8:

None of the products EquisVoid are mandatory or must haves, just very desirable. The DAZ Original Head and Body morphs for your figures of choice should be your first purchase.
Mandatory means required by law or mandate; compulsory. so very much an incorrect usage of the word.
I was being ironic because for me was like a mandate to buy all of these as I consider it basic tools that would open almost endless possibilities of being creative on spontaneously building different new characters for every render. A compulsion is different, is a superfluous impulse, like my compulsory that makes me buy dragons but I dont use dragon very often.
So the basic morphs tat let me use characters are included, and am guessing will need to buy a basic set of poses. Sadly, have becomeunemployed since my first post. Am fine but need to cut expenses. One thing would like to do also is take a DS figure into zbrush and play with sculpting a new character and making clothes and armor. Would love to buy all the cool stuff but just cant do it right now. Thanks much everyone for your thoughts.
