Another use of Retro Pop preset in Corel PSP 2020 applied to Daz Studio render

    image

Is the Retro Pop preset included with the main program please?

The Retro Pop preset is included in Pic To Painting plugin, which as far as I know is free for PaintShop Pro 2020 (and 2019) customers.

    Thank you :)

  • Ordered the 2019 Christmas cards.  This was the pic used this year.

The front of the card reads:  Merry Christmas to all

The back: and to all hang on tight!

Nice, but... ummm.... you did notice that Santa is poking through the seat, right? Those reindeer are adorable, by the way!

  • The seat has a hole in the back...?

How else does Santa make it to all those houses without having to stop for bathroom breaks?

Especially if its the "Santa's Village of Madness" Santa we're talking about.

Just something quick - I've not been very active again for a while. Mostly real life stuff but then I turned to expanding my Poser Runtime with conversions of Genesis and Genesis 2 figures and accessories. This last couple of weeks have been spent getting Genesis 3 figures up and running.

I've been purchaseing Genesis items over the last few years when they've been at silly prices - even Genesis 3 is now hitting those super low price points giving me quite a selection to work with. Not all of the product line works in Poser but in case anyone else is interested in working with this generation, I've started a new thead on the Poser forum where I'll post my notes and successes which can serve to inform other folks' purchasing. There's a table of G3 Female clothes and now one of hair. I've quite a lot more female clothing to try and import but I'm going to turn my attention to the male figures fore a while first.

Anywho, here's a very simple pic of Victoria 7. While there have been some dissapointments (particularly regarding hair - a lot of which doesn't work), the figures themselves work very well (do create light versions to improve performance) and there are enough clothing items to make this a worth while addition to my toolset.

And here she is on a cover with a Michael 6 in the backgroud.

I need to make some more art, but I've been pulling seven day work weeks, because of the holidays. Maybe I'll get something cranked out tomorrow.

  • Back to Riverdale for me.  Alan M. Mayberry is Josie's boyfriend and the roadie for the Pussycats.  He replaced neo-hippie, Albert, and hippie-hippie, Clyde Didit, as the BF during a shake up in the comic.

Not bad, but Alan M. is noted for being very muscular and built. I recommend dialing up his build a bit.

Glad to see you're making progress with Genesis 3 figures. When things slow down I'm going to revisit my efforts to work those figures into my art.

Ummmm. I don't see Michael in the background? Am I missing something?

Oops! I was sure that I posted a book cover as well - I'll see if I can find it.

It's a bit of a combined thing. I started with a simple render against transparency which I open in a photoeditor (I'm using Affinity Photo). I adjust the shadows and highlights, then contrast and brightness, and sometimes some the colours. I then feed that into the Oil Painting present of Topaz Simplify. Finally, I take that into Painter or ArtRage, paint a simple background if needed and then attack with a palette knife blender.

  • Josie's former boyfriends...

Albert (no last name that I know of) was gifted a guitar by Josie early on and spent the rest of his run singing awful folk songs and love ballads.

When Albert suddenly disappeared with no explanation, Clyde Didit took his place as the local hippie...singing bad songs and chasing after Josie.  His running gag was getting clobbered by something every time he said, or sang, "Sock it to me".

I always liked Albert. Clyde was fun, but I preferred the boy-next-door to that smelly hippie! ;-)

Oddly enough, I don't have a lot of the Clyde issues in my Josie collection. I do have some issues of Archie's Mad House with a similarly named Clyde Didit and the band, the Mad house Glads.

  • Same Clyde Didit...he settled into Mad House after the brief Josie run.

  • Pepper was one of the original trio of friends in the Josie comics.  Usually she was the voice of reason.  She was replaced by Valerie when they started up the Pussycats...maybe she couldn't sing.  Socrates (Sock) was Albert's best friend and he had a major crush on Pepper.  She always played hard to get, but she liked him, too. He wasn't replaced by anyone.

  • Pop Tate is the owner of the Chocklit Shoppe, which is a landmark in Riverdale.

Actually, no. That was a different character with a similar name. The Josie character was usually spelled as Clyde Diddit (two Ds). The member of the band was Clyde Didit (one D). Almost the same name, but definitely a different guy.

Pepper was one of the original trio of friends in the Josie comics.  Usually she was the voice of reason.  She was replaced by Valerie when they started up the Pussycats...maybe she couldn't sing.  Socrates (Sock) was Albert's best friend and he had a major crush on Pepper.  She always played hard to get, but she liked him, too. Ahhhh, the ever-so-spicy Pepper! The sharp-witted character was phased out for the sole reason that the editor/owner didn't like Pepper because she acted like one of those teenagers who protested and carried signs. In other words, kind of a beatnik on her way to becoming a full-blown hippie. So, in 1969, at a time when the band the Archies was a big hit, they decided to copy that formula and make Josie and her pals into a girl band. That's when they phased out Pepper (and poor Sock), thus making history by having the first major African American female character in comics. Yes, Valerie was the first one at a MAJOR comics company and the first to have any lasting power. In fact, that's one of the reasons I was not happy when the TV show Riverdale cast a black actress to play Josie; I felt it diminished the importance of Valerie in comic book history. Now, I really like what Ashleigh Murray has done with the Josie character (and I'm looking forward to watching her on Katy Keene), but for me, the impact this has on the historical significance of Valerie Brown is still a little bittersweet.

Been a while since I posted here.  I went on a trip last week to Japan, which inspired my lastest image to be posted here.

    WHOA! Japan!

    Super cool!

Nice to see you posting again – I had been wondering where you'd been. This is a very nice illustration. I like the effects you achieved on the horse.

I just finished reading nine issues of the updated Josie and the Pussycats series (with the Manga look).  Can't say that I cared for it...it was way too over the top for me.  They had Pepper in it, though, as the bartender in the local bar where Josie starts her then solo career.  At the end, Pepper joins the band (with her cello).  Add to that, they made her chubby!!
