Seamless texture overlay across bodyparts?

What is the easiest/best way to apply overlay textures to a whole body? For example I want to add blushing across bodyparts or adding veins going from upper arms to torso.

    Easiest?

    Depends on experience; if none anywhere, it depends... You may find a particular method more appealing.

    Use Photoshop/Gimp and manually paint them and adjust for seams; doable, but time-consuming.

    Paint directly on a 3D model; Zbrush, Blender, 3Dcoat, Blacksmith Pro, Substance Painter, and many others. All have a learning curve that might make the above option preferable. :)
