Missing files from DAZ even when I installed them many times and also changed my HDD.

Hi All,
I am facing a strange issue, I get missing file errors and even I installed that content 3-4 times everytime I start Daz, this occurs. Happened when I installed on SSD, Hybrid or Normal HDD. It happen when I restart my computer or restart the application.
Some help will be great.
Thanks

Installed how? If you didn't use Connect are you sure that your installation and DS are using the same directory settings?
What is Connect? I install them via Daz installer utility and in some cases simply coping data in respective folders.
Thanks
Well, manualy installs are always risky in the sense that it's easy to drop things in the wrong folder (or copy the wrong folder from the zip). Are you uisng the default locations for content in DIM and DS or have you changed them at all?
Just did a reinstall of everything using Daz Install Manager and am facing the same issues. Saying *.duf files do not exist and they are precicesely where they are supposed to be.
Are you using the default paths? Where in DS are you loading the files?
In my case, it is going to C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library where it's split up among props, characters, and what not.
I've spent the last couple of hours looking for duplicate files and directory paths and come up dry, I cant get any characters to work with the exception of the base Victoria, Michale, Hiro, and Akio actors, but none of their ad-ons will take. Computer continues to clain it cannot find the files.
If we are talking about missing files for the Daz Studio app (not the content), maybe try reinstalling Daz Studio with the antivirus turned off, and/or running the installer as Administrator.
If we are talking about content files missing, maybe use the Content Directory Manager (on PC it's under Edit > Preferences > Content tab) to make sure all your paths are listed.
Tried reinstalling Daz with running DIM as Admin, no joy. Directroy trees are correct.
Can you show us a screenshot of your Content Directory Manager with the DAZ Studio formats and Poser Formats expanded to show the content paths?
Reinstalling something should always be your last last resort. Figuring out stuff is teh way forward. Now i know DAZ installes into a few locations it seems. When i manually install files it goes to my C:\Users\Public folder same as yours.
Your best bet just after you get the cannot find error is to go to the log file. In here copy where the file is suppose to be and find that directory and troubleshoot from there.
But yes as SixDS said show us screenshot of the error and Content Directory manager
Split up as in that is th eway it is isntalled, or split up by you moving the files or telling DIM to use sub-directories?
As Requested. The #1 file shows where DIM installed the content and what-all, the #2 file is where Daz itself is installed.
Where DIM is installing them.
EDIT: Just about forgot, the error message reads "Could not open file:/People/Genesis 8 female/Victoria 8.duf. File does not exist." Obviously I was picking Victoria 8 at the time, but you get the idea. Whatever I pick, is claims "File does not exist."
Interesting development: When I right click on Victoria, as used above, or other things, and tell the system to open with Daz, the actor or prop displays fine, though I cannot bring anything else in or use poses when I click on them, as it still claims to be unable to find the file.
Does anyne have any ideas at all?
Thanks
Another interesting development: Just downloaded the Fifties Dinett Set freebie and tried it in Daz, expecting a crash. Popped in just fine. Closed down Daz and restarted it, popped in just fine. Tried another item (Umbrella patio set) Cannot fine file.
Uninstalled and reinstalled another item (jacuzzi deck) and tried again. Cannot fine file.
Confused.
You said you "Changed HDD"... Did you just copy the files to the new location?
I have issues with some SSD's and Daz, where it actually "loses the files" on the drive. (Actually makes windows not able to access them too. The file-dir is there, but files are not actually able to be accessed.)
Can you check your files "Permissions", or folders... If just copied-over, they retain original permissions of the "Creator" or "System" or whatever. Sometimes the permissions get botched in windows. You can claim ownership of the files, or move them out of "public", which is the worst place for them to be anyways. (If they are for "anyone", they should be in a root, not a "user" folder at all.)
Have you tried to "Search for files in known locations", and/or updated the database with the maintenance tools?
Hey, jtdekoning.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Thanks for the screencaptures, but I believe that you misunderstood what I was asking for. I was not asking for a screenshot of your content library on your hard drive, I was asking for a sreen capture showing your Content Directory Manager. The Content Directory Manager is a utility builtin to DAZ Studio that helps DAZ Studio manage and find content files. Opening it will reveal where DAZ Studio is set to look for such directories and I believe that is the root of your problem. The fact that you are able to open your files by right clicking on them in File Explorer (or whatever its called in Windows 10) would seem to suggest that my assumption is correct.
This machine that I'm on right now has an older version of DAZ Studio installed, but I don't think (hope) that the most recent version has changed that much. Here is what you need to do:
1. Open DAZ Studio
2. Click on Edit > Preferences
3. In the resulting popup window select the Content Library tab at the top
4. Down near the bottom, click on the Content Directory Manager button
5. In the resulting Content Directory Manager popup window, expand both the DAZ Studio formats and Poser Formats categories by clicking on the little + sign next to them. That will display the content paths that DAZ Studio is using. It is a screenshot of that that I was previously requesting.
Hopefully that will give us some insight as to what is going wrong.
Thought I might have had an "a-ha" moment there, but near as I can tell, the directories line up right.
So, out of sheer frustration I thought I'd update this, in case it helps someone else, or if someone else has an idea.
Been working with Emma from tech support to get things working, but so far no luck. She had me look for directories formatted "1_xxxxx" in the My Daz Connect /Data/Cloud folder, and I found none. I remember seeing all kinds of those once upon a time and I am suspecting that those missing folders are the culprits behind my problems. A reinstall with the newly updated Daz Install Manager did not fix the problem, so I am waiting again.
Screenshots for any interested parties, or those who might have an idea how to help.
Thank you all.
Nuke the database as it is still remembering the old flawed paths or don't use Smart Content.
It doesn't matter if I'm using smart content or not to bring in the object/actor, I still get the same error message.
Could someone tell me where to find this database I am supposed to delete?
Thank you.
I believe this has what you need.

>insert Hallaluja Chorus here!!!!<
I just scared the crap out of my wife and pets with the scream of joy I just let out.
Murgatroyd, I could kiss you full on the mouth!!! You beautiful doll, you!!
Everything seems to be working so far. It's going to take a little bit of testing to see if truly everything is going to be working and if I can reinsert my custom characters and scenes back into the program, but everything seems to be working!! It's labling my actors as materials, but I can live with that for now.
You watch, tech support will tell me to go there tomorrow and do exactly what you just told me!
Thank you! A million times thank you!!
