Studio Hexagon Smooth Brush Affects Entire Object?

I'm not sure if this properly a Studio question or a Hexagon question.  Trying to expand my knowledge and skills, so I decided to take a whack at the "triangle crotch" problem on trasferred pants by sending to Hexagon and smoothing the polygons and sending back as a "fix morph".

Worked great.  Except that parts of the object that I never touched were affected by the morph!  Like almost the entire pants from the waist to the shins,  And all I did was wave the Smooth Brush over the triangle of doom to make it a little less prominent and jagged.

Thoughts?
