Scene vs Character Preset

I know I should know this, but I honestly don't.
I save everything as a scene. So if I create a character, shaped, skin I want, hair, clothes, etc. I save that as a scene and import it into future scenes. I always presumed that a character preset was what I saved if I wanted to take a base figure (say G3M) and recreate the morphs, skin etc. Am I correct here?
DO I need to save all completed figures (I usually name my creations) as a scene or is there another way to save them?

I've tried Character Preset with a bunch of attachments. They come in without the attachments, so I just save as a full Scene. I think you can do Scene Subset and it saves everything, but haven't looked into it.
Saving as a character preset won't say the attached hair or clothing. You can save a character preset though that will load a script that loads it's hair & clothing and such but I've never learned that. It's easier just to save a scene or scene subset (which will save only the character, hair, clothing, and parented props if those are what you have selected when saving the scene subset) as it's much faster & easier. You you ever make a product of freebie though you are likely to want to do it the fancy, proper way.
