help with bryce 7 terrains

HI, i'm using Bryce 7 for the terrains. I want to use a terrain that i level up (flat) and then i want to dig a river in it. The problem is when i level it, when i get out of the edit window, my terrain becomes a sheet, it has no volume... Before my terrains got out with a volume, but now it looks only like a sheet with no volume Under.

Make it Solid. Top right of the Terrain Canvas is a down arrow. Click on it and enable Solid. The Preview unfortunately always shows it solid.

Is there anyone out there that actually gets proper help from tech support? Purchased products 9 days ago, downloaded but still can't install. Frustrated at best!!!!!!!!!
