Step by step for saving an asset

So i've been putting off asking this for a while in hopes that I would figure this out myself but i finally figured i'd just ask

There are loads of tutorials on this but none of them tell you absolutely everything you need, most of them either skim over the important stuff or they leave something out.

  • I create my own clothes in OBJ format using Zbrush or another modelling app.
  • Import those clothes and using the transfer utility add the rigging.
  • Save that item of clothing as a figure / prop asset
  • Load a new figure into the scene and fit the asset to the model, Immediately the boobs go mad
  • Send the mesh over to zbrush again to create a breast fixing morph
  • once the morph is into daz again i name it, set it to 100% and resave my clothing asset.
  • if any JCM's are required I create and apply those
  • Add a D-Force dynamic surface and weight modifier and edit the weight map if appropriate
  • Now I apply a shader to the material of the clothing and save it as a wearable asset.

Here is where i get stuck. Lets say i now wanted to give this item of clothing to someone else, or submit it to daz for sale. Where do I go from this point? is all the data I need contained in that wearable preset or do i need to take more steps?

  • You need the asset files, in the Data/AuthorProduct/Item folder created when you saved the asset, the textures (applied from /Runtime/Textures/Somefolder), plus presets to load the item (e.g. character presets for individual parts and a wearables preset for the whole set, materials presets, possibly a pose preset for shoes or for skirt posing) . By the way, you don't have to resave the whole item when adding morphs - just use File>Save As>Support Assets>Morph Asset.

  • Thank you very much :) i will give it a try
