Prepare the scene on eGPU

I recently bought an external graphic card for my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, I can see my external GPU in the advanced tab, but when I prepare the scene I don't think I use the eGPU, because it's quite laggy. Is there any chance to choose which GPU to use when preparing a scene or something?
