Mocap formats for Daz

Hi guys,

I'm working on a project that involves hiperrealistic animation so I want to use a female G3 figure with mocap animation.

I've loaded a .bvh file  (a running cycle) into my Genesis 3 female figure but the arms are in T pose and they keep all the time like she is flapping to fly. This problem is not happening with G2 figures, they work fine.

1.- Is this a matter of bone mapping correctly?

2.- Does Daz 4.10 supports FBX  mocap files?  which files can be used with G3 figures?

Maybe there's a work around that involves exporting to other software, any ideas?

Any help will be appreciated.

Genesis3 and 8 have additional bones (twist), and I believe you can map these when you import them (I don't use bvh, so I'm not sure how well this works).  There are a few threads out there discussing how to bring them in.. most abandon using gen3 altogether because it is not straightforward

I use fbx for all of my animations with gen3/gen8, but you can't bring them in straight from a mocap application or from  fbx files found or purchased on the internet,  you need to use something like Motionbuilder with your character exported to mobu as an fbx, characterized (which is basically mapped to the mobu/maya bone structure), apply the animation, then import the whole fbx file with mesh and save as a pose or properties preset (if you are also using facial mocap or you animate the morphs).  I have a video detailing part of this workflow here:  https://vimeo.com/227139373 and you can see some of the tests I've done on my vimeo page for examples.

message me if you have any questions, always glad to help..

Hi ,you need to be using DS version 4.10 minimum
and using Mocap Data that was Created using the G3 rig.

"and using Mocap Data that was Created using the G3 rig."

Not necessarily.  I import FBX mocap into DS 4.10 often enough.  Some of it is mocap that I make.  Some of it is mocap that I download off the internet.  As long as you characterize it properly in MOBU, it goes pretty smoothly.
