I want to stop DAZ from using DAZ Connect

I want to stop DAZ from using DAZ Connect. I had a longer post about why, but it erased itself, and I don't feel like typing it out again. Basically it only causes me frustration I don't need and it serves me no useful purpose whatsoever.

Can someone please tell me how to get DAZ to STOP using this feature?

    Why don't you just use DIM? Personally, I love the ease of Connect, but I believe you should have the option for DIM and even manual download in most instances.

    What? DIM has nothing to do with DAZ Connect. I DO use DIM, but I see NO NEED for DAZ Connect. So, this doesn't help me at all nor answer my question.

    I only want DAZ connect to become more flexible and transparent, and be a little more unlocked

    Yuo stop Daz Studio from using Connect by yiou not using it or getting DS to use it on yur behalf.  I know that I have never, and will never, use it, so it is rather simple to do.  The 1st step is to go to Preferences (F2, or Edit, Preferences) and pick the Startup tab and make sure the 'Automatically login ...' item is unchecked.  Beyond that I cannot help as, as I said, have never used Connect.  Just ensure you neveer opt to install items from within DS.

    I thought that if you don't download from within Smart Content then you're not using Connect.

    Does the login mean you're using Connect? Doesn't it just update metadata for the CMS.

    So far as I know the metadata-only update featrure is part and parcel of Connect and does not function for DIM-installed items.

    Connect isn't being used unless YOU choose to download a product through Smart Content/Connect. Even "logging in" at startup does not make Connect do anything automatically.

    If you log in you will validate that isntall of DS (which would allow any connect -only encrytped content to be used) and download the metadata for your content purchases at that time (so they'd appear in the product lists ready to download via Connect, if desired).

    Still, Connect isn't really doing anything like automatically downloading content. WRT the OP's issue, I don't see how Connect is causing any frustration since it's not in the same menu as DIM or manual content. Connect shouldn't even be visible when using DIM content. It certainly isn't to me.

    Yes, if you don't log-in Connect does nothing (though if you don't log-in at least once you will get a reminder about authorisation each tiem DS starts).

    DS may also connect to the net to check for updates (I can't ecall if that's opt-in or opt-out), and the Application Improvement programme (which sends anonymised data about usage, and is definitely opt-in). DS will need a local IP connection to communicate with PostgreSQL, but that doesn't leave the host machine.
