sci fi quarters

there's the GIS set, Kibarreto's amazing Powerstar etc, and the wonderful Odysseon set... and NONE of them feature crew quarters.

What would I like to see?

A cool hallway, a la Kibarretto's style or maybe stonemason's utopia deck c, with several doors on either side (openable).

behind the doors there are;

small crew quarters
medium sized quarters
shared quarters (2-4 bunk beds)
large VIP quarters with excellent view
splendid captain's quarters with amazing vew

within each there would be food dispensers, computers stations, eating area, bed, bathroom and shower (sonic?) and some amount of windows, plus a few pedestals / surfaces for personal objects.

If this were in the store tonight, I'd buy it.

    I second the need for some crew quarters/sci-fi bedroom. I love the realism available now in the latest version of daz and poser, and some of the older stuff can look slightly dated, especially without morphs and customization features.

    I did just buy 3-d-c's apartment. I'd love more like that so I can mix-n-match

    Unfortunately, I'm not finding any actual rooms to put all the decent sci-fi props in, like this or the futuristic/dystopian office packs! I'd like to see some relatively empty rooms, in the style of 'Aliens' and 'Event Horizon'. The typical office-type rooms I've found at Daz 3D have things like central heating grills or styles of windows which look too modern. Needs to be something which looks like it could just as easily fit in a colony or space station.

    Someone like Stonemason would make something perfect, no doubt. :)

    The biggest problem is the mismatch between the corridors. I could deal with everything else.

    If you want the tex packs for SFCS I that match the tex pack (in your post) for SFCS II, they're at the other site also.

    Since this thread is about creating other compartments to supplement Kibaretto's sets, you probably don't need the SFCS Equipment (& Textures) but they're pretty cool also.

    Interesting!

    Hopefully, they'll bring it over to sell at Daz 3D.com. I've not had much success with manual installations of stuff purchased/downloaded from third-party sites. The official auto-installer has been a God-send.

    Unfortunately, its unlikely. All of these sets have been around a while and there's been plenty of opportunity for that to have been done.

    Stonemason mentioned he is making a crew quarters set. I saw a promo shot here in the forums a while back when I asked about a sci-fi apartment.

    I was curious about the above sets as well, however, it is really tough for me to see with the quality of these screenshots how they will render up. I try not to buy stuff that looks of date. I'd love to see more screenshots to see how it renders in a setting.

    Hopefully, it can be mixed-and-matched with existing furniture/prop sets.

    OK, now that I've thought it through, Davo DOES do a lot of the "same" textures for multiple sets. By "same" I mean that two products might both have a "concrete" texture set. There's a chance that if the pieces are mixed the textures will blend perfectly. Theres a good chance that they will look good together even if they're not a perfect match. THAT means that some of Davo's sets could be used as locations for the SFCS II without having to build a room out of SFCS I pieces.

    I got the SFCS I v2 upgrade from power fusion. It contains"

    1. A new set of 'Metal' textures that are significantly better than the ones from my original (Daz) purchase.

    2. A handful of new pieces that aren't very exciting. They have names like Generic Filler 1,2 & 3 and Generic Post 1, 2 & 3.

    3. A bunch of 'assemblies' of the pieces to make various rooms.


    I loaded one of the assemblies from v2 and switched the wall segments textures back to the original textures I got from Daz so you could basically build what I have here from the pieces in the product in the Daz store. I then loaded 16 sets of the living quarters bunk beds To complete this. I would mirror the set down the center of the room, put 8 more against the near wall. and delete the two that are blocking the door. (I didn't do it here because of the way I have all the beds parented together. I'll redo that and repost the pic.

    The room would hold 60 bunks

    This post should have preceded the previous one:

    Here is a picture of one of the pre-assembled rooms that comes with the upgrade from powerfusion3d.

    The second picture is a version that I "regressed" to use the textures that came with the original SFCS from here. You could create 95% of this room with the set in the daz store. You would not have the "filler" pieces that form the top of the walls. You could leave those out or resize something else to replace them.

    The flat pieces below the room are actually the ceiling. This is a problem I've seen with large collections of parented and grand parented and great grand parented ... collections. Some piece is parented to another and the parent is then moved. The child moves with it, but its coordinates do not change. at some later point the set is reloaded and some of the parts "drop". I think this is a generic poser problem, but I've only seen it with Davo sets because they often have multiple pieces.

    This room has 48 individual items and could be quite tedious to assemble from scratch.

    Hey, I've used the S.F.C.S. since it was here at DAZ and have all of it's expansions. I use Davo models for all my ship designs and interiors (as highlighted in the previously linked thread) and they can be seen in higher quality in my DeviantArt Gallery, Here.

    Thanks for the screenshots. Looks like a nice big space there. How does it look closeup? Decent?

    The first is the lower level door as it comes with the original Daz SFCS I. The second is the Upgrade of the same door from Powerfusion3d.

    I've often taken the center panels of those doors and made them partially transparent glass instead of the texture, gives them some more pop.
