Hexagon Update Has Broken Export to Carrara (Reportedly)

According to the release thread in the Hexagon forum, the update to Hexagon 2.5 released in February 2018 cannot save out to Carrara .car format.  See discussion here starting with the post by our friend de3an and continuing several posts.

Reportedly, the problem was noted in the beta, but not fixed.

Just carried out a bug test with the Beta.

Opened two different objects, both exported well.

First when opened in Carrara came up with an empty object file.

Second when opened came up with an error and would not open.

Looks like its export as an obj then import the obj into Carrara.

It can still export an obj and load in Carrara that way, but the old version of Hexagon could save to Carrara native format (.car).

vertex filesm tawt i taw an extra column of numbers.

not sure what it does, but are we losing something shuffling to obj?

  • i'm sure thats no bug that carrara gets no attention and will be left behind :)
    But that's just my opinion.
In some way i can understand why but in another way i think carrara have so much potential to work with, a few years ago it was an awesome software for creating 3d images, animations, figures, and so on but it just stucked in the progress from 8.5.
All the other softwares still get a lot of attention and support, so they'll get better and better and gots a lot of improvement into workflow while carrara won't.

Kind of pathetic when you can go back and forth with Carrara & ZBrush. Or DS & ZBrush.
