Adjusting/eliminating default scene lighting

In the environment section of render settings there is a selection for Dome and Scene.

In scenes that have iray hdri as a light source, the "scene light" is sometimes too dark, too bright, or not needed.

If I put dome only scene ,too dark.

In a scene with no additional camera or lighting, how can I adjust the default scene lighting

It will depend on the HDRI that you have in the Environment Map location. If there is no map then it will use Sun and Sky for the lighting. If it is a dark HDRI then you will have to :---

    A) Increase the environment and or map intensity

    B) use Tone Mapping to get more/less light into the camera.

    Thank you.

So the default lighting is not camera related (i.e headlamp)?

Unless you are looking through a camera with the headlight switched to On then no.

    Further, last time.

Uploading image, in the sunglasses of the figure is the scene/light reflection.

If I render Dome only, no reflection but figure dark.

Simple matter of cloning reflection out in photoshop.

    But

In other applications solution is to move the light small amount upward

In DAZ defaultlighting , then, the only solutions are the ones mentioned.

    Dome only and tone mapping/ISO?

Thank you for help and patience

You have the option to use Dome & Scene, which is what you should do if you're using an HDRI + scene lights. Dome Only won't use the scene lights at all.

Remember that the default setting in Tone Mapping (13.00) is for a bright cloudy day, so it almost always needs to be adjusted to suit your scene.
