Bounding boxes just stopped working and won't re-enable

This is so strange. I've been using Daz for hours on end every day and I know that I can highlight multiple limbs and see bounding boxes around them, also in active pose it is useful to see  things with bounding boxes. Today while trying to select multiple limbs there just simply was no bounding box. I loaded a scene (Classroom) with a bunch of objects such as chairs and desks and sure enough, no bounding boxes on those either. I went through my draw settings and set everything that was under "currently used" and reset them. When I do active pose instead of getting a normal bounding box I get nothing so I can't see which limbs I'm even targeting. It doesn't matter if I'm in iray, texture mode, wire frame mode. I simply can not see bounding boxes AND if I set it to "bounding box and surface only" where you normally get tons of yellow highlights when you mouse over, nope, nothing, it just stays as the solid object and doesn't show me what I am selecting.

I have spent no less than 2 or 3 hours trying to completely reset my Daz settings back to factory and no matter how much I delete folders with Daz in them and have NOTHING in my C: drive right now and have moved all of my daz content to another directory it keeps putting the old settings back (I know that it doesn't default to H:\Daz 3d Content" for "factory settings".

What am I missing here? I can post a screenshot of my settings but I know for a fact that as I select different items in the scene as early as a few hours ago it would put  bounding boxes around them. Please help as I can't do any thing when I can't see what I am selecting now.

I just moved my daz folder and then uninstalled everything, reinstalled it to a new folder and then uninstalled it and cleared out every single folder with the word "daz" on my C: drive (where the program but not the content was). I've reinstalled the program and it is still giving me my OLD draw settings (I set a slider to 34% to keep it there).

I am so frustrated. I can't do anything with this broken profile / configuration that Daz is using right now. I just want it to be default as possible and no matter if deleting stuff from registry I can not get bounding boxes back to appear! I am so beyond confused what is going on with the settings.

  • Here is some information and screenshot sorry was having issues attaching to previous post and it posted instead of preview.

I'm on windows 10 using Daz 4.10 pro (fresh install through install manager). After installing Daz (and completely eliminating any folder with the word Daz in it beforehand!) I went in to the draw settings and RESET everything under currently used.

Here is a screenshot of what it looks like. Notice no bounding box around the abodmen? It doesn't matter what I highlight. I don't get bounding boxes. I took a screenshot from a daz studio where they are highlighting a body part to show what I mean in case I am not clear. This is so strange. IT was working hours ago and I didn't change anything and now I just can't get them back no matte rwhat.

Were you using the Iray preview mode in the viewport when it was working? I never use that myself (graphics card too slow) so I don't know whether that is the cause, but it may be worth a try to switch to texture shaded or smooth shaded mode.

Try Draw Settings pane, Node Highlighting - what are the opacity settings (Inactive Opacity seems to hide the box for a selected node, Active oapcity is for the mouse-over state).

Please don't post nude images, even without the anatomical elements loaded.

  • Thank you for the assistance and My apologies I will repost the image. It was just the genesis 3 male loaded but I can see why that may not be ok for some people at work especially.

The opacity are all set to 0%. Is there a hotkey I could have pressed that hid boundary lines? Also during active pose it doesn't hav ea bounding box, it just shows the RED pin so I don't know what I am selecting.

It doesn't matter what I change to. Texture, wireframe, hidden line, nothing has a bounding box.

    Here is the screenshot re-uploaded.

I have tried every single draw setting. I've reset factory default. I've reset my interface. I've deleted Daz 4 or 5 times now reinstalling through install manager and deleting any daz files and clearing my registry. I've been using Daz every day for 4+ hours a day so this is mind boggling what occurred.

  • The Opacity Settings should be 40 (Active) and 100 (Inactive) by default (or at least, that's what mine are at). I'm not aware of any other way to edit these, though they presumably will save/load with workspaces.

  • Thanks Richard, and I think there is some confusion on my behalf with how the reset feature works as it puts the settings to 0 but I assumed it put them to default ... it was the combination of the opacity as my issue was I would be able to get bounding box lines to appear as INACTIVE only but after finally getting it back to a 0 point installation it worked and showed me that the correct settings to get the square corner brackets around items was bounding box edge length. For whatever reason no matter what I set this to even if anything was 100% it wouldn't appear! Once reinstalling and back to 0 point install settings (and not logging in and using a new user seemed to be the key?) I could see that there was bounding box edge length that needed to be on as well as the opacities.

I just don't know WHAT could have changed this as the only thing I go into draw settings for is to change from photoreal or to blend photoreal for faster movement in scenes.

Maybe some fool in the future will come across this post and it willl benefit them. I guess I won't rely on "reset" to put items back to default as default shouldn't be 0 for opacity or bounding box edge length. I wish there was a way to reset the draw settings back to zero sum but I could not find a way.
