O M G! They're calling for 100F+ temps for the rest of the week, with 106F forecast for tomorrow and 105F on Saturday!!

Time to stock the fridge up with beer, fill the ice cube trays, and hide indoors all weekend! Yikes! (bug eyed face)

Yep, another fine Texas Summer. (blank face)

Exact opposite weather here, there is a huge polar storm trashing New South Wales, north of us. New Poser has a Bullet Physics with soft and hard dynamics, should be good for hair and theoretically jiggling, but haven't tried it yet :o)

I've decided I'm going to hold out for Victoria 13, with Dynamic Jiggle(tm), and Michael 13 with Morphing Toast(tm).

Until then I'll make do with V5/M5/V4/4/A4/S4/F4... (heh).

And a KILOMETER LONG PIKE as well as a GIANT CHICKEN!!

Although Dinorauls new T-Rex would make an incredible giant chicken for poor Olaf to fight, since he seems to have been cursed to end up battling dinosaurs.. heh heh. (evil grin)

Complaint: allergies acting up and the Sudafed I took is making me feel wonky. Blech.

    In re the "feeling wonky":
How can you tell? (Limps slowly away)

Complaint: I am going to the foot and ankle specialist tomorrow morning. If history is any indicator, I will be limping and bloody when I leave. I am a diabetic with a blister on the bottom of my foot. This is potentially very bad, but will probably be OK.

    @Spyro:
Hang out with us more often, and don't try to give us any BS about RL. : )

Ugh, poor you! Yes, foot injuries of any kind on a diabetic are bad news - I've been taught how to deal with such things, so thankfully when I get any issues I grab my medical kit and go to town. So far, so good.

I sure hope they can fix you up and get you going again!

    TY.

Yeah, the new Poser has some slick stuff, but I'd never use it except for cheap personal entertainment...

mebbe ac/dc made an exclusive deal with like itunes or something for their mp3s.

can we contact Australia High Command about this?

They don't even sell MP3s on their own official website, just CDs.

If you sign on to their myspace you can play all the tracks you want https://myspace.com/acdc/music/songs

Not quite freezing at night here in the big city, but there was snow out of town that actually fell from the sky instead of out of a machine :o)

Actually, Brian Johnson (lead singer) lives in Florida near Miami. Maybe we can go down there with a certain "pike" and convince him to change his mind.

On that note, how about Olaf and the Peacock?

SubDragonLE with the Peacock shaders from the store.

You can transfer morphs from G1 to G2 see (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24093/) but it would be nice if there was a tool or script that could handle it for you.

As for the not storing things in the cloud from a few pages back. You do realize that "cloud" is just a marketing term for a network accessible computing system right? The internet itself is part of the "cloud" so storing your data in the "cloud" is a requirement.

Storing your data on a server that you don't control can carry risks but 95% of the websites out there do just that. In fact I'd bet that any site you visit, except for Google, Microsoft of Amazon is probably hosted by someone else. The actual data for a lot of major sites is actually stored on Amazon's servers and uses their S3 service. Many major corporations do the same thing. Large server farms are expensive to build, expensive to maintain and hellishly expensive to run when you factor in power and cooling requirements.

I will agree that allowing a 3rd part to setup and maintain your online shop when that is the main way you do business may not be the smartest way to go. Putting it on someone else's servers is one thing, counting on them to code things properly is a whole different kettle of fish.

And from the looks of it Daz kind of threw the forums out there for the community but doesn't actually have a lot to do with them. They run on Expression Engine which is a fairly standard forum app. That being the case it's fairly easy to see that the emoticons are controlled by a file that points to where the actual images are stored. It looks to me like what happened is either someone changed the pointer file to point to a new location in preparation for moving some things around but the move never happened or someone moved the icons themselves without changing the pointer to show the new location.

Either way it should be a 5 minute fix tops.

I've been saying that for a while. This "cloud" thing is just another hype word. Basically all it is is shared hosting, web farms, remote computing, Software as a Service (SaaS), all rolled together but with a new cloak. It's absolutely nothing new except the hype. And the fact that they can charge higher rates because it's "new, exciting, bleeding edge tech". When the vapor blows away, everyone will realize the truth and see the hype for what it is.

Stay cool, Wooly. I am. 94 yesterday with humidity, and today it hit 92. Right now it's 90 but feels like 93. Humidity! I'm staying inside!

95 here, with 37% humidity - not fun.

    You stay cool too! :-)

Exactly. The cloud is nothing more the distributed computing.

Distributed Computing is the term for running all your apps on the main frame and accessing them through your terminal.

You access the web and its applications through your web browser which is, in essence, a fancy terminal emulator.

The IP technology that we use to address all these computers was invented back in the 60's and hasn't really changed. Same with the SMTP protocol that your email travels over. None of this stuff is new, it's just got a new paint job.

Well, it only got to 91 here today, not 92. Still, with the humidity it must have felt like 93 or 94. Severe thunderstorm warnings from 3 to 9 tonight, possible winds of 50mpg and hail...not baseball sized, though, thankfully!

It, at 4:30pm in lovely Austin, TX its officially 100f. The sun is too bright, the sky is too clear, and it's TOO DARN HOT!

Definitely not getting anything real hot for dinner! I have 1/2 a salad left, maybe I'll nab some cold cuts on the way home, or just eat salad and some cheese slices.

One hour and I can go play in the heat. Oh Joy Oh Rapture. (blech face)

Oh, she's in luck! Only the 80s to 90s in the Galveston are!

It's a lot cooler near the Gulf, it appears.
