Duplicated entries in Smart Content

Hi,

I've noticed that I often see duplicated entries in Smart Content. Both icons seem to work, but it does make things crowded when you're dealing with products that have a lot of similar items.

I've been using DAZ off and on for many years, the install dirs have changed a few times for content, I'm wondering if this is some issue with the CMS installing metadata in multiple locations or something similar? Both icons appear to work fine so it's not impacting my ability to load smart content, it's just making things confusing.

It may be because the product (such as clothing or hair) suports two or more figures and there's a set of materials included for each.

You might be right. I'll keep an eye on it. The one that was driving me utterly nuts is the Alternative Piercings Pack, but it's also incredibly difficult to tell whether the presets are duplicates or simply identically named presets for slightly different accessories as that pack comes with a ton of options and the metadata is atrocious for it in terms of actually discerning what the individual options are.

Bingo, thanks for the quick save. I have a few g3/g8 products that I'd been working with and then combined with the huge list of accessories from the piercings pack that's what was making me think it was a bigger issue.

Note to content creators, please put something in the name or the icon so that you can clearly differentiate your content! Particularly for the piercings this one's damned annoying. The files are all well structured by the different items, but the smart content isn't (although they do provide a nice hierarchy for body parts), once you drill down to the individual file names though, they have several items with identical names, and that's all you see in smart content. Similarly, even if I go to the content library, I'm having a hard time finding the folder structure for these items as I installed through DAZ Connect. I can pull it up under products, but that doesn't show me any folders at all (although at least shows me the path when I hover over the item). Great organization on the behalf of the creator, but sadly at completely the wrong level of the hierarchy to make it usable.

Try right-clicking on one of the icons in Smart Content (if you expand the bottom section of the pane you can use the Info tab to check the path to see which is for the figure you want), right-click, and select the Show>Show Asset in Virtual Folder option - that will take you to the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats>Daz Connect>organised content folder with just one set of files.

  • Hi. I might have something a little different. I have the Genesis 8 Basic Male appearing twice. Once as New and one without New. Same for 8/Female, 8.1's, the Dev Loads, etc. Gen 3 and 9 are only there once. As it only that way with those now a huge problem but interesting.

Under Product it looks kinda like there are two Genesis 8 Starter Essentials, one with a white 8 and the other black.
    Thanks
