The Severed Man
https://www.daz3d.com/severed-man-for-genesis-8-male-s
The sum of ones parts can be even greater than its whole.
The severed man set can allow you to explore all the separate parts that make up a man.
The geografts in this set allow you to cut off any limb on Genesis 8 Male in a variety of places. The mapping of the grafts will also allow you to use any Genesis 8 Male textures that you would like on them (with only very minor seams). Included in this set is a utility script that will allow you to instantly copy your characters textures onto the graft.
There are also Geoshell end caps for the grafts that will allow you put different cut effects or scar effects onto your graft.
So if you need food for your zombie, or have a science lab that grows new body parts, or a war veteran who lost a limb in service of his land, a statue that has a broken limb, this set has many possibilities.
- Product Includes
- Sixteen Geografts with Geoshell caps
- Two End Cap Material presets for each graft (Iray and 3Delight versions of each)
- One Deep Copy script
- Two full body displacement fix presets
- Two skin tone adjustment fixes for the Scar texture

Comments
Also...before people ask, in this version the head is not severed. There was no good way to cleanly cut the neck and have the textures work in a way that was good enough to include in this set. Sorry.....it did not pass my personal quality control and would not have pased daz's either.

Have purchased this already today, but without documentation, I am a little confused how to produce a figure with say, a severed forearm.
I was clicking on some icons and they just caused my web browser to open the Daz shop for the RawArt products!
Looks a great product, but some of us need some guidance, please. :-)
I tried to make it as clear as possible, with the instructions right there in the library for you.
Load Genesis 8 Male
Apply whatever character materials you like
With G8M selected apply the geograft you want to use from the folders for the limb you want
Use the included script from the utilities folder to copy the materials onto the geograft
Then if you would like one of my end-cap details, select the shell and apply that material onto the graft.

Thank you!![yes yes](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)
Well poop!
And in the spirit of "aren't they ever satisfied?!" I shall ask : Fingers? Will you someday do severed fingers/toes? Or is the mapping prohibative on those features too?
Otherwise this looks like an excellent product (as usual) and I will be getting it soon.
Interesting... will there be a female version? It would be difficult to recreate Venus de Milo or Boxing Helena with G8M... :)
There are no problems with the mapping on the fingers and toes, but there are simply so many of them that the set would get too huge and would have to be priced in a way that none would be interested.
A female version is still up for debate. Many people are concerned that a severed woman would appear more "violent" and "abusive" than the severed man. I know that sounds sexist, but objectively I can see in this world and how things are that could easily be a perception. Anything that even looks abusive to women is dangerous ground. I totally get that.
If severed man sells well though, I may do a statue set as you indicated, that was also part of the discussion.
No necks, I am disappoint.
I can see that, thanks. I had just thought of it when I saw the severed hand and noted how it reminded me of Mayan glyphs of body parts.
I'm glad you decided to give us this set instead of giving us the finger.
(It took all day to come up with that one)
That may come down to presentation - promo images that show amputees coping well with normal activities, or paralympians (sp?) doing sports, could suggest empowerment rather than abuse. (The main promo for the new Severed Man is amusing in one light but I can see your concerns if it were a woman instead).
I've got the original Severed Man (great product) and this new one is on the wishlist (I've hit a budget wall) - the improvements with G8 certainly make it worth getting.
A separate add-on pack?
You mean you might have to charge... and arm and a leg?
Ok, ok, just making the one pun. Like the product, and especially the end cap options.
Hah!
The problem with things like fingers and toes is simply that there are so many of them, and that would be alot of work, for something that is very seldom going to be used by anyone. Then naturally, as soon as it is made, there will be the comments "oh, I want it cut by the other knuckle, why didnt you do that!"........so really there is an endless cycle of possible products to the point it becomes very unpractical.
So much as I enjoy filling the wants of customers, there does get to be a point where things cannot really be pushed anymore.

I searched to see if a thread existed for this product, curious about the missing head lol, kinda laughed when I seen the explanation was the 2nd post, smart idea :) very understandable why it was left out, it looks great and am definitely getting it, I like the bone textures in the caps I don't remember those being in the older version, this paired with the Frankenstein monster can lead for some awesome looking renders :)
How about a version that is severed at the waist? Like a woman in a magicians sawing box. Is this something you would consider doing, or is too much work required?
Also, thanks for creating this.
There are countless places where the figure could have been cut apart, and it would be impossible to do every variation. So I had to make a decision as to what would be the most practical to include.
I figured I had to post the explaination, because it was something that I really did want to include, and wrestled with it longer than I should have....but sometimes things just don't play nicely.
If people really want a seperate head, then can do something like scale the head and all its parts to 1% just above the neck, and load a second figure and scale the body parts to 1% to hide the body.....it wont be perfect, but could give a decent work around if it was really needed.
1 year passed
Would you do a female version?
fingers and toes: I am also interested in this.
Honestly...at this point it is not on the schedule.
Though you could dial in one of the female clones on G8M and have a female shape. It may not be the specific character you want, but could work in a pinch.
I hope it is ok to ask for an issue with this product in this thread. When I apply a severed man geoshell to a figure with genitals, the genitals became bright white. No material I think. Even if I delete the genital and reapply it including material, ith does not help. Any idea?
you will have to turn off the visibility on the genital area of the geoshell
severus snape?
...apologies for the "threadnomancy", but can you sever a forearm with the hand attached? It appeared this could be done with the old version from what I saw in the promos for it.
The first image shows all the cuts on the character
...so the hand and forearm can remain attached then. Thanks, that's what I needed to know.
