export animation into c4D

Hi.

I will save explaining the project. Here is the principle and the thing that wont work.

I have a single genesis animation, no clothes, naked, basics, with keyframes in Daz4.03 (not 4.5) over 175 frames.

I export as FBXincluding animation. Daz dutifully records each frame and we're done.

I open tit (or merge it) in Cinema 4D r12 and even though I have "import animations" checked it it just a still model with bones (that are not connected to each other anyway). I just need the damn Daz animation to work. And yes I have aniMate 2 and I baked the keyframes to the timeline.

I imagine this is a newbie question but we are all newbies at something. I'm more of a typographer artist of 20 years so this is fairly new. I cannot find a way to preserve the Daz keyframes. Am I missing something obvious? And yes I have checked the boxes Daz and C4D(12) respectively to include animations.

I'm on a mac.

Any help much appreciated.

I do not have C4D but users do get Daz content in successfully
does the FBX play in Autodesk FBX viewer? (free)
if so it is an issue with how you are importing it into C4D not the studio export.

I don't know. I will try to find Autodesk FBX viewer.

    Thanks for a stepping stone.

Autodesk FBX viewer - need autodesk, I think.

Very few options on FBX import to C4D. "animation" is one and it is ticked.

The Daz genesis model imports fine, complete with bones but they are not connected. ie I can pull a shin off to one side and the 'skin' will stretch.

Perhaps I need to tell C4D what this object is. ie a rigged model.

I say that but when I looked in the timeline there were NO imported keyframes.

Now, I would expect that if it was a self contained animation, so what have I imported?

I am very confused and seriously fed up with searching the net.

    http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/fbx20133_converter_mac.pkg.tgz
    http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/fbx20133_quicktime_mac.pkg.tgz
install the convertor and the quicktime viewer and open the convertor and in it select viewer, drag and drop your file in
FBX is a rigged animated figure it would need to be imported into your app of choice maybe using a plugin
you can also use the convertor to convert it to .dae (collada format)

Wow thanks. I am not mad. In the FBX converter I am seeing the correct animation as exported from stupid Daz.

So how do I get C4D r12 to recognize that as a self-contained animation? Or just an animation.

We have confirmed Daz is exporting it correctly.

me too i want to export FBX structure from daz, but... i cant have success export.

if i work with naked figure, all Ok, but when i dress my character FBX exported not merge all items in one figure with one sketon, but one skeleton for each item...

i opened same fbx in c4d, blender, lightwave3d (no more be cause i could buy and mantain these license).
    same result.
then i think i do some error in daz BEFORE to export, then i ask to more skilled guys...

how can i merge a figure with his wardrobe before to export?

hi.. Im succesfull to export genesis+cloth+animation using daz Studio 4.6.1.33 to cinema 4d release 14 PC version . I dont know if your cinema 4d or DazStudio version maybe cause trouble .

    1. Do you make animation with AniMate ? If so ... you should baked to standart DS timeline first to making work
    2. Before exporting are you`d selected all figures+cloth+Obj via scene tab ?
3 .Check export setting like immage attachment
    4.When opening in Cinema4d .make sure you`d check/import animation

    Satria,
I followed your instructions, and everything imported into C4D except the animation. Can you please explain what you mean by "you should baked to standard DS timeline first to making work"? For testing I created this simple file with a naked Genesis figure, using the built-in animation named "Spin":

    Thanks,
