Had so much trouble with installing content: Uninstalled Content Manager instead

edited June 2013 in The Commons

My word, never has my experience of Daz Studio been so frustrating than when I installed Hiro 5 and Hitomi just 2 days ago.

At first, I thought it was my folder settings inside Daz Install Manager. I fiddled and re-started and launched DIM and DAZ Studio 4.6Pro several times after trying all sorts of variations, even uninstalling content using DIM.

My main problem was that Hiro 5 and Hitomi were always showing as error ("empty") icons in the Smart Content drawer. Regardless of how many times I uninstalled and changed the installation location to my current Daz Studio content folders, Smart Content kept looking for the Hiro 5 duf file in the first location I ever installed it into ! Same as for the Hitomi files ! Annoying !!

I have checked DIM for updates - I am using the latest version.

I have since uninstalled Content Manager. That was the culprit ! Now I do not have to see that drawer inside DS4.5Pro. And all the installed content can still be seen in the usual old-fashioned way under the content library.

I had asked Sales Support for a refund. I have since updated my request with them.

Here is my render with the content. At Last !

You could've just set cms to manual mode in windows services, which prevents it from auto loading. Without it on though, you also lose categories if you ever use those. Content library is also available whether cms is running or not.

Noted. I'll just deal with the content in the old-fashioned way. Ugh. Thanks for the tip.

A reset and Reimport of Metadata was prob all that was needed if the files were installed. Which the render shows they were.

I use Content Library myself. I Run the CMS for the Category feature. I prefer my Categories to Smart.

Ah is that the case. I didn't know. Well, after I return from my travels, I shall research on how metadata can be re-imported.

Yes, I can find my installed content using the traditional method.
