tattoo colors change when rendered.

I have been experimenting with blacvk and gray tats using LIE ... the tat layer is black on the character. When it renders, it is reddish, or in some cases near dark red. 
Why would that be? I have tried different lighting, with the same results.

    You didn't add it to the translucency.

    yes, that was it. I had watched a video how to do it, and there was no mention of adding it to translucency.
