Iray Wound Decals

I just got the Iray Wound Kit and have no idea how to get the decal on the model... and of course, I cant look at the pics in the ad because the ad isnt loading, not that there were a lot of directions in the ad... but I seem to think it looked kind of easy to add these things... anyone have any suggestions for me or know how to do this?  Thank you!!!

It is a very simple and powerful tool but  one thing makes it much simpler to use.

    Load your figure.

Either select the figure and apply the Iray decal or drag it onto the figure from smart content like a prop.  The prop centers to to the center front of the character above the navel.

Turn on the IRay preview;. if you can't see it, you can't position it.

Apply the appropriate texture to the IRay decal.

Use the Parameter transformation settings to position the decal.

Pose the character, dress the character, and render.

so... didnt qwant to ask this newb question... how do I turn on iray preview?

  • To preview in Iray, go to the render tab. In the viewport, in the upper right, you'll see the gray rectangle that tells you if you're in perspective view, top, camera, etc. Just to the left of that is a symbol with a down arrow. Click the symbol and select NVIDIA Iray at the bottom of the list. Your viewport will now show a low quality Iray render. If you don't have a pretty fast rig, you'll probably not want to stay in the Iray preview mode. It's hard to move the model accurately because of lag.

ok, I found that... ut this just seems horrible. I have to wait forever for the preview to load up then try and move the scar around?  I havent got a full preview yet to see if the scar even showed up.... it just seems like the other version for gen2 i think was a lot easier... just a drag and drop system...

  • If your render setting are for Iray, you can go to another tab, like Actors, Wardrobes & Props and leave the preview setting on Texture shaded. When you think you have the decal close, try a spot render. If the render settings are set to Iray, the spot render will be in Iray even though the viewport is set to Texture. You can use the Parameters settings for X, Y, Z translate to nudge the decal, and then do another spot render. It sucks to do it this way, but if your computer and graphics cards are older, slower models, you can get there eventually.

I know this is an old post, but I'm having problem if this product on the latest Daz Studio version. The object is attached to the figure but is impossible to move around, I can't see in any way

Update: I found the problem, I forgot that the figure has to be completely at zero pose. Bad thing that applying a pose preset after also break the product. I had to put two models side by side and copy the pose part by part.
