Adding lights in DS4.6 zeroes Genesis!!!!

I posted this in the Daz thread before but no one seemed to know about it...

It happens with most uber environment lights. It's a SERIOUS bug!

I have a scene, with genesis, often dynamics, and multiple shaders.

I then click on a light preset. For example, Lantios New Fashion lights- one of the fill lights.

IMMEDIATELY Genesis pose is zero! The shaping is fine but the pose is zero. ARG cloth drape is RUINED.
Add a base light. Same thing: genesis zeroes again.

if i click UNDO to the last action, whatever it was- a pose, a movement, a color change, a delete, ANYTHING, often genesis will go back to the original pose. BUT NOT ALWAYS.

it's not just Lantios lights, but other lights too.
It's been messed up since 4.6 rolled out.

I've had SO MANY CRASHES just since 4.6 came out that I seriously want 4.5 back. I've loaded a light and suddenly genesis's hair and CORNEAs go FLYING IN TO THE AIR above genesis.

i've had the interface freeze out with the issue, making it impossible to click on anything in the daz interface. It'll highlight but not let me interact otherwise.

PLEASE, anyone else having seriously messed up Daz 4.6 issues??

This sounds like something to do with the timeline you are posing on a different frame than frame 1 and the moment it starts to render it goes to frame 1 that would be my first guess.

I considered that because once or twice it was in a scene with dynamics that had animated drapes, but it has happened in scenes with zero animation and the entire thing was at frame one, and even at the animated scenes it did not change the frame. I did check that. No idea what is causing this major set of bugs in DS4.6 but its a SERIOUS setback.

Last I checked, Lanitos Lights are not light presets, but instead are scene files with lights. This means they have their own timelines and when you're merging them into your scenes you're getting blasted by their timelines.

I would open up the light preset you want to use in a NEW CLEAN scene file, and then do a File > Save As > Light Preset and then try and merge that preset with your previous scene.

Ah, I see. I already have a folder of saved light scenes. It seems really really impractical that lights be saved as scenes. But everything else in the scene stays, why would that zero the figure's pose? It makes no sense. Or why it would send the hair+corneas flying through the roof and make genesis float up a few feet.

And this didn't happen in 4.5, its something new that happens in 4.6, so either way, something got badly borked up in the last Daz Studio version. I have so many things that got broken. :(

THIS. THIS IS THE KIND OF PROBLEM THAT MAKES 4.6 UNBEARABLE.

This has happened too many times to count!!

Where can i find 4.5 to reinstall?? I'm really ready to give up on 4.6, its beyond buggy, its downright unusable. I have been getting about 5-10 crashes a day with 4.6 and i just can't function with that unstable a version of Daz. This is NUTS.

If you didn't back up your installers I don't think you can. However, you certainly shouldn't be getting that many crashes so it may well be that there's a fixable issue that can be dealt with. The screen shots do look like some kind of display issue - what are your OpenGL settings under Edit>Preferences>Interface, and what video card do you have?

Everthing's on except for pixel buffer, which is off. I have Nividia GE something...

Try changing the setting for Display Optimisation.

Richard, I tried it with the two settings, and its not working. I'm still getting the same problem. I even reinstalled DS4.6, and GSE, and I'm still getting this issue. I seriously don't want to stop having to use Daz because its not working properly after all this :(

Do you have dual graphics cards, NVIDIA and Intel? If so, make sure the Intel also has up-to-date drivers and that DS is using the NVIDIA card.

If you go to Help>Troubleshooting>About your video card... does it show the correct information?

I only have Nvidia, no intel. DS is using the nvidia.
Help does not have troubleshooting..... in fact there is a "help and support" but no help>support>video card. under hardware and sound is my Nvidia panel though.

I don't get this all though, it worked WELL with 4.5 and didn't break until 4.6

I haven't been able to make any art since I updated and I'm going nuts. ;'( Thanks for helping, both of you, I hope we can figure this out... i'm trying to find a backup of 4.5 as well :(

OK, that's working then (pity). There have been updates to the nVidia drivers too, and I would still suspect that that might lie at the root of the problem.
