Problems with missing objects in newly created scenes
I've looked everywhere and tried a number of different things, but this problem wont resolve itself no matter what I do and I am at a loss.
This has started happening recently: whenever I create a new scene and load in clothing or props, they are missing when I save and reopen the scene. They're just gone and I get an error message saying 'one or more files could not be found'. In the scene tab, they're still listed but are not visible. The log file says 'unable to find file for storable'.
I'm familiar with this happening with old scenes and have always been able to fix it in the past by moving files in and out of the data folders, but I don't have any files to move this time. It's like Daz Studio isn't creating the corresponding files when the program saves the scene.
It's beginning to get kind of annoying. Can anyone help me?

I'm not 100% sure but to me is sounds like the DATA folder that your Scene saved the Data too is not found. DAZ Studio should save all data to the TOP listed DAZ Studio Formats path listed in your Content Directory Manager. If you have nested content folders it could cause that error. Could you open your Content Directory Manager then expand all the paths for both DAZ Studio Format and Poser Format and post a screen shot? That will show if it's a path problem or not.
Which version of Studio and what is the path to your saved scenes?
Thank you both for your help. I am using Studio 4 Pro and the paths are apparently missing files all begin with: data/4_0_2/
I've attached a screen of my content directory manager. I save all my scenes in the master files folder and that has never been a problem for me. Everything else in there works perfectly - it's just when I create new scenes. I recently had to reinstall Daz Studio because AVG flagged up the content management service.exe as a virus and deleted it, so maybe it's something to do with that?
Okay, thank you. You do have a path problem I explain below. Close DAZ Studio before moving content on your drive.
1.(see arrow) This is a Nested folder. DAZ Studio can not have a content folder inside a content folder. The fact it is the TOP listed DAZ Studio Format folder also causes many issues. You should go to the real content/content folder on your Hard drive select all the Folders/Items listed inside it COPY them, move up to the upper content folder and then PASTE into the top folder with a Merge all if your OS has a merge feature. Win7, XP and Win8 all have merge, you did not list your OS that I see. I know nothing about Macs so I do not know if merge is supported.
I would then Select the content/content folder and MOVE it to a temp holding folder.
2.(see arrow) The Appdata folder is a system (OS) folder and should not be called from the program. The OS does that on its own.
You should then only have the Studio/content folder the My Library folder and the Master files folders listed as DAZ Studio Paths in the Content manager. The extra two can be removed before you do the content move. Then you BOOT DAZ Studio clean and go to Content Library Tab and use the Mini Menu (four lines) to open the Content DB Maintenance menu. Do Reset Data Base and then Re-Import Metadata.
Ah, mission accomplished. I'm so relieved. Thank you! : )
If all seems well after a good test drive you can DELETE the moved content folder. I'm happy I was able to help, so far, I was having a bad day and if all has gone well and your happy, this has made my day.
