Stick objects to figure

I would like to attach an object (obj created Lightwave3D) to the figure michael4. The object should cling to the body and stick to the figure in poses.

I've talked about it in a forum and solutions were Geoshell or LIE.
Because of the size relationships and the simple placement of objects, I would much rather work with objects that I can load and place.
I would like to know if this is possible at all.
Many Thanks

Is this a prop, something that moves rigidly as a unit attached to one part of the body, or a does it need to bend as you pose of the figure? The former is handled by parenting the item to the body part it must follow, which is nice and easy. The latter requires rigging which is a bit more fiddly. To create a new figure from your model:

    1. Load Michael 4
    2. In the Figure Setup pane go to the option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) and select Copy from Selected Figure - use the Poser preset in the import dialogue
    3. Right-click in the Geometry List panel (left of the Figure Setup pane) and select Add Geometry, In the Import dialogue, if you modelled around the base Michael 4 choose the Poser preset - if you used an exported OBJ use the same preset as you used for export.
    4. Drag the OBJ name from the Geometry List onto the Geometry line under the figure name in the Relationships area - that will replace the Michael 4 mesh with yours
    5. Edit the figure name and label in the Relationships area (click twice)
    6. Assuming there are bones which no longer have geometry, delete any which have parents that also lack geometry (right-click) - it's a good idea to keep geometry-less bones whose immediate parent does have geometry.
    7. Check the Modify Selected Figure box
    8. Click Apply

That gives you a basic rig, now you will need to adjust the angles and matrices for the transforms so that it bends correctly (don't touch the centres and endpoints or it won't follow the figure correctly) - use the Joint Editor tool and the options in the Tool Settings pane for this.
