Make sure Parent in Place is on - it's a check-box in the Change Parent dialogue, if you use that, or a checkable entry in the Scene pane option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) if you use drag-and-drop.

Select them and use the Visible button in the Parameters pane (as long as you have Consolidate Properties checked in its option menu, and Fisplay Separate Items unchecked).
