The title says it all.
Can anyone tell me why the smart content is empty when just last night I had 100's of files of content.
Before you ask. I did not delete/uninstall anything...

Also, when I search for items in the content library it just clicks. and dose nothing afterward.

Your Content Management Service (CMS) is not running for some reason.

Go to Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D, and restart it from there. It should then appear as a running Process in Task Manager, and the search and Smart Content will work again.

That did it. Thank you. But how can I prevent this from happening in the future?

I figured out what it is. It keeps shutting down on me mid game. I''ll be doing my thing, go back to smart content, and nothing...

CMS is normally loaded at startup, and you should be able to see it in msconfig as a Service.

It sometimes stops for me as well, but very seldom. If it does, I just restart it again. I have no idea what stops it, but it does happen. If it happens too often, then there is something else going on as well which may need to be looked at.

Sorry, we cross posted the last time.

It may be your firewall or AV that is blocking it. You may need to go into your AV or Firewall, and make sure that the CMS process is allowed to run as a trusted app or what ever.

No. My fire-wall is off and its still shutting down on me at complete random moments.
I cant tell you when its going to shut down. But I know it will. Firewalls dont act like that. They either do, or don't block.
They dont pick and choose, when they are going to block. So its not my firewall.

The only other thing that I can suggest, is to uninstall the CMS from the Start Menu > All Programs DAZ 3D, and then reinstall DS4.6, which will install the latest version of CMS along with DS4.6,

If that doesn't fix it, then your database may have become corrupted, and we would need to look at that.

I am having the same problem, I have not been able to use Smart Content since the last 3 or 4 updates on Daz. I have also tried turning my virus program off and it did not help , I tried reatarting it like you said above and a little box came up asking me if I what user name I wanted to us and then a little black box pops up for just a second and then is gone and it is turned off again. I've just been using the Content Library.

99% of the time a CMS that did function but stopped functioning is a BAD Database. If the error in the database is just right it will run until that error is encountered again and then the CMS will fail. If you Delete the Database file from the CMS folder and BUILD a new database using the Database Maintenance Menu in DAZ Studio most of the time the CMS will start to function properly again. Also remember that sometimes the Updating of DAZ Studio does not UPDATE the CMS because it was running at the time of install. If you STOP the CMS and then Update to a new Version of DAZ Studio the CMS will up date as well. The Database is permanent until you remove it yourself, so if it is errorered you will need to take the steps to repair it.
