All of my manual download links are gone, why?

I just made a purchase and then found that the ONLY option to download what I bought was with the DAZ DIM installer. Absolutely NO manual download links. Then I checked all of my past purchases and all the manual download links are gone from them too. What's going on with DAZ?

My Account > Product Library, then select the product
I already know where they should be. I mean they are gone. There are NO manual download links there.
Hmm, they're fine for me. What browser are you using?
Firefox. Let me try IE and see... Nope, they are gone in IE too. DAZ must really hate me. They have wiped out all of my manual download links.
I've seen people get confused by this. Is there absolutely nothing there, or are you seeing links in the Product Library with the DIM logo? Those are your manual downloads — the old style downloads are being phased out as everything changes to zip files that work just as well in both Mac and Windows. Using the DIM accesses exactly the same download files. Many people have seen these DIM logos and thought "I can't use these, they're special DIM files". It doesn't help that the download names have changed to not tell you what kind of file it is (because there's no need to any more).
Ahhhh, Ok. I see. There is no longer all the confusing files to download. Now, there is just one download link to a zip file. OK, thanks!
Not always just one. If there are separate D|S4.6 and D|S Legacy and Poser files, then you'll see two or three download buttons. Most of the reduced confusion is because there's now no Win/Mac distinction, there's only "the downloads".
That's what I'm used to seeing. I'm used to seeing several options in there for Legacy, Poser, etc. Just yesterday, my products all had them. Now, today they are gone. There is now just one single download button.
I have the same problem and sent a help request some minutes ago. I don't and I won't use the Download Manager, and I hope this is only a temporary problem. It would be very unwise from DAZ to completely disable the manual download.
As far as I know this DIM installs the downloaded items immediately. I want to decide myself when to install a certain product. And I don't like to give DAZ or anyone else (we have some nice recent examples...) access to my computer. Maybe as a European I am more sensitive to those matters.
I use the DIM downloader to download the files only. I have set it to NOT install anything. I then install the contents to the folders that I want to.
There were announcements on the forum weeks ago, stating that the EXE installers were being discontinued. All future content will come in the ZIP format, which is what you are looking at with the DIM logo. There is no difference between PC and Mac, so the one download does for both systems.
You can use the DIM to simply download the products for you, without installing, and it has a very useful filter which allows you to only download the files that you need. i.e. Poser only, DS only, both Poser and DS, Carrara, Bryce etc etc.
There is nothing sinister about DIM, and I have been using it since it first came out, and I now would not be without it, it is superior in every way to the old system of downloading and installing yourself. It also updates products for you as soon as they become available. I don's see how you would be giving DAZ access to your computer, in fact, it would be the other way about, it would give your computer access to the DAZ downloads that you have already paid for, and keep them up to date for you.
It is up to you, you can download the ZIP files yourself, and install them when you like. You can use DIM to download them for you, and NOT install them, or you can allow DIM to install them. Your choice.
I have been downloading the DIM zips for some time now, but doing it manually.
I am a Poser user and don't want the content folder
I then unzip to a temp folder and move the runtime folder to whichever runtime I want it in and periodically I clear the stuff I don't want to the recycle bin.
There is no need to use DIM if you don't want to, just treat the zips as you would any other zips
Thank you, Wilmap, JimmyC and Chohole. Well, then I'll try this DIM thing. I hope I'll like it as much as I like the new Product Library, which is really fine.
Update: Much ado about nothing (from my side). I tried the DIM download, installed 'Toxic' (thanks, DAZ, for this nice freebie!) and everything is ok. After all, I was among those who encouraged the use of zip-Files... Now I go and send a message that my problem is solved.
There are help files for the DIM, and it can save a lot of trouble, but if you are having any problems with it all, don;t be afraid to ask, we are all here to help.
Thank you, JimmyC!
I just did a quick check and noticed that a few products still have the older installers for them along with newer DIM ones, but just about every product including some that had separate installer programs a day or two ago now only have DIM version Roughly it looks for every 26 products, 25 are DIM only and 1 that has older installers.
The 'Content' folder inside the DIM zip is not installed by DIM. It is when manually opening the DIM zips that people have problems because they extract the 'Content' folder to their library folder(s). As already been said there is nothing evil or spyware about DIM, learn it and use it, you will see the benefits.
So, I can't backup the binaries? My only options are to either use DIM, which means downloading a product every time I need to reinstall it, which means DAZ migtht decide to take it away like they did with our purchases made prior to the release of DIM, OR a zip with no metadata?! SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!??!?!?!!????? I am going through personal problems and cannot take this!
1) In DIM, uncheck "Delete Installer After Installing" in the Ready to Install tab if you want to keep the zips.
2) DAZ 3D has never taken away your purchases. If something is missing, file a support ticket so they can correct it.
3) The zips have metadata. If you install them manually, you need to manually re-import metadata. If you install with DIM the metadata is imported automatically.
You mean I have to go to my content manager files and code it in? Because metadata is encoded into those files just like when you save a file on DAZ.
Or are we talking about a script that initiates the metadata coding?
On the Content Library pane options menu, Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata. Check off the products you want imported.
I am skeptical that that will work. It didn't work with M3 Martial Arts uniform, M3 Wizard Robe, V3 Strike Ponytail, or Genesis Loreley Hair.
Wait, wait, false alarm for now, folks. The binaries are in my Order Confirmation email. Really sorry about all the fuss :(
Anyway the installer EXE was wonderful, and could personally choose not robotic, not right now, step by step how to install the files you downloaded and unzip on my PC, and it's very necessary to control where each file resides, especially if you have to teach your students, and ask how you install one file at ITEM purchased either in DAZ, Renderosity , etc ... Thank you ALL :)

Gracias a TODOS :)
